Yes, I have one. It works magic. Not only it will give you the fullness, but will actually let you walk easily without tripping.

AllieLaLa:  I’m wearing one with my mermaid style dress 🙂

No pictures as my wedding isn’t til March but I am a huge fan of them – they definitely accentuate the flare at the bottom, not a rediculous amount and certain styles will look more obvious but they are also amazing for keeping all that fabric away from your feet!

I tried on several dresses and each time tried both with and without a hoop and I didn’t even consider not getting one, it made it feel so much more roomy and my fear of tripping over my skirt was lowered significantly!

AllieLaLa:  I should add I just saw your last comment about purchasing online – I think you’d be fine to buy it online just make sure you have the right one for the style of your dress as they differ depending on whether you have mermaid/ball gown etc 🙂

AllieLaLa:  Hey Allie!! I tried on this dress and did love it but fell head over heels for another dress. Here is it with a hoop skirt for reference 🙂 Hope it helps!

I have a hoop skirt! It gives instant volume but it is so comfy and makes it super easy to walk! I bought mine at a bridal store new for $60 but I’m sure you can get a good deal on a used one! GL!

The only real issue with hoop skirts is that you cannot step directly backward, or you will catch the hoop and fall over, possibly ripping your hoop skirt and even the dress. Just keep this in mind, especially when working on your first dance, and maybe practice walking around in the hoop for a few days before your wedding.

AllieLaLa:  No problem!! I thoguht it looked better with the hoop skirt as well, gave it the drama it needed ;). Also it was super easy to walk in! The hoop lifts up all the fabric so you dont even feel like your wearing a heavy dress 🙂 I hope it helped give you an idea about what it could look like with the dress.

I am the least graceful person on the planet and a huge tomboy and I loved my hoop skirt. I was nervous to use one but I had a big dress for my outdoor wedding outside in August(!!) and I wanted to stay cool. It worked wonders and was super easy to walk in. I got mine online for about $10. Another plus, dancing in it was super fun. I want to find another dress I can wear it with just to dance in it again!

AllieLaLa:  It shouldn’t sit right at the back of your ankles, but due to the way it swings when you move it will slide under your foot if you step backward, especially if you are wearing heels. Its just something to keep in mind, no reason not to wear one. Most people rarely step directly backward anyway, I’d just recommend practicing based on my personal (klutzy) experience with wearing one for a different occasion.
