I have been looking into doing b-pics as a Christmas gift for my FI. We are long distance so I feel like he would appreciate them more now than after we are married 🙂 The thing is, I will have to get him two gifts – one we can tell our families about, and the photo album! I’m in college and don’t have much money to spend.
Before I start looking into this seriously, do you think its affordable? By affordable, I mean less than $200. I don’t live in a big city, but I know that photography can still be quite expensive. How much were your pics? Do you think this is too extravagant for a Christmas gift?

I think it’s a super fun gift and I’m doing them too. My package is $400 and I am in St Louis. I think you just have to shop around and find one in your range – maybe a new photog looking for experience? Those can be more affordable.

I did them and I’m so glad I did. My package was $275. I got 2 hours and a photo album and the rights to my photos. There were cheaper packages too by my photographer, but this was the one I chose. Another option is to have a friend take them for you too.

Thanks for the feedback! I could definitely do something like your package, Snowflake.
My good friend is a photography student and actually taking our engagement photos, but I just don’t think either of us could manage to take it seriously! I feel like I need someone I don’t know so I won’t feel embarrassed. I feel like it might be somewhat awkward for FI, too, to know that one of our friends saw them.

My Friend did a package for $200 (she got a $50 discount for putting down her deposit early) and she got 1 hour of photography at an awesome bed and breakfast (turned into about 2 hours of photography because she was doing so great and the photographer loved her!), also you usually get champagne and a little black book that has 20 5×7 images. My only complaint was that she doesn’t give you a cd of images. I have no idea why photographers do this. Anyways, if you want to check out how our session went and get any ideas or inspiration, then check out my blog entry about it:
