I'm trying to make my own birdcage, and the site's I have found with Russian netting have the stupidest process to order, they are just small companies and pretty confusing.

Anyone know if I can buy Russian Veiling at a regular craft store or do you know if they would have it at a specialty fabric store?

You can buy the material at any fabric store in your area. However it may not be called Russian netting.

i don't think they have it at Michael's, but if you try Joann or a similar fabric store, they are likely to have it.  It is sometimes called tulle, and you want to look for tulle with a very wide/loose netting.  That's probably not the technical term for it, but you get what I mean.  :)

Joanne and Hancock Fabrics both sell it, but it isn't called Russian netting. I forget what it is called, but if you look in the bridal section, you will find it. Also, if you get a coupon for Joann's, you can save 40 to 50 percent; depending on the coupon.

Birdcage veils are made out of russian netting - JoAnn's does not carry it. There's a couple of etsy sellers that sell it by the yard. I have a large specialty fabric store in my area that I get it from - try googling special fabric stores in your area.

    Good luck!

Some Joanne's do carry it. The ones by me do, so it may be regional. Call before you go in and talk to someone in the fabric department.

I couldn't find it at my local Hancock Fabrics, but I did find it at HouseofFabric.com. (Their ordering process was fairly straightforward.) They also sell metal combs that you can use to make it. I think I ordered a whole yard for mine just in case, but mine also covers my whole face. You should order less if you want a small one.
