My husband picked out a beautiful 3 stone engagement ring and I love everything about it except the fact that it is yellow gold. Does anyone know if yellow gold can be dipped in rhodium so it looks like white gold? Also, I don’t have a wedding band but I really want to get one. Do you think it would be a problem to get a white gold or platinum band and dip my yellow gold ring if it’s possible?
One more thing! If you have actually done this, how long does it take for the silver color to wear off? I’d hate to have a ring that was part white gold/yellow gold. Thanks!

I don’t know about rhodium (maybe?) but I think you can get it dipped in platinum. I have a friend who became allergic to gold somewhat suddenly and had her wedding set dipped in platinum. She has to have it done about every 2 years. I feel like it’d be easier (and maybe cheaper in the long run) to just get it re-set in a metal you like though? Or rock the yellow gold, its totally come back imo and is really pretty!

You can get it dipped in rhodium. But the wear depends on use. Likely 1-2x a year.
you mAybe better off just getting it reset.

You can have it dipped. I have done this before with one of my yellow gold rings. It only lasts for about 5-6 months before you need to do it again. It might be a good short-term solution, but longterm I would recommend having the setting changed when you can.

i actually wanted to know if the opposite could be done.
i saw a beautiful white gold ring, and everyhting about it was absolutely perfect……except that i wanted yellow gold. i know the white gold wears off in time, but probably not evenly, so i wondered if it was possible to have the white gold ring dipped to remove it, just leaving the yellow gold underneath?
