So FI and I are talking about a small, mildly non-traditional wedding. We would be hosting at a favorite restaurant (small, yummy food, on the river, exposed brick walls) for a morning/brunch wedding. The plan is to greet people personally as they arrive, have folks get lattes, mimosas, whatever, and have a pastry bar first thing – I want everyone to feel hosted/welcomed/settled right away – if I could do it in my own living room, I would. Once everyone is there, we will do ceremony/vows then have a big brunch. We are going for special, warm, meaningful but not too formal in vibe. I know people in my circle will dress up.
So the question is, with that type of setting, can I wear this dress and not have it be weird? It is …covered in sequins, so, you know. But for some reason the buttery yellow tone in some of them makes them feel…like they could go well with happy morning sunshine. I have long brown hair that I think I would wear down with waves, minimal jewelry, etc. What are your thoughts? Too glam for morning? Any other accessories thoughts? Shoes?

I think this will be perfect. 🙂 It’s a gorgeous dress and even though it’s a brunch, it’s still your wedding! Not too formal at all. I think it would be beautiful.

Perfect as-is! Just wear nude flats. 🙂

It’s your wedding… you are allowed to wear anything you want! You should wear it just like that… hair up and a statement necklace (not that one, though… it looks like one that Wilma Flintstone would wear…lol) and gorgeous shoes.
Your wedding plans sound perfect! I’d love to be at a wedding like that.

Thank you all! This helps affirm the strong leaning. I loved it, just felt like I was going crazy. Now to order and try on… I would love to think the dress search is over.
Any other styling suggestions much appreciated!

It’s your wedding and the silhouette is very streamlined so I think it’s fine. Agree with minimal or understated jewelery – perhaps diamond studs and a simple silver necklace or pearls?

@yandz: First of all, can I come to your wedding?! It sounds amazing. If we weren’t eloping, that would be the sort of thing I would go for! Second, that dress is perfect. You are the bride, after all! You should feel free to wear something gorgeous and special 🙂
