Because we are paying for the wedding ourselves, and our guest list is very large, we opted for a cake, finger foods, coffe, tea, etc reception. Would it still be appropriate to have s place for dancing and/or have the traditional first dance, father/daughter dance, mother/son dance? I really want them, but at the same time I don’t know if it will be tacky or not?? HELP!!

Are the guests going to be standing the entire time? Because I dont think they will want to stay long if they can sit down

Is this a come and go reception? People probably will not stay long if so. It could get really crowded if people do stay around for the dancing. Include that it will be a come and go one on the invites maybe so people know ahead of time if you want.

I understand your budgetary issues, but you really need to have a seat for every butt. People get tired and will want/need a place to sit. Especially if there is dancing. Even if you have some seats, but not all the seats you need, it still could cause a problem because people will leave jackets/wraps/purses at their seat.

Girl, do whatever you want! Make time for the things that mean something to you because you don’t want to look back in however many years and wish you had a first dance with the love of your life.

Hmmm… Are you having it at atransitional venue that has tables and chairs? If so, go for it. Like PPs have said it’s a little more awkward if people can’t sit.

We will have plenty of seating for every single person because everyone will have seating for the ceremony. We plan on having cake and H’ordevous. The venue is an indoor gazebo with plenty of room for everyone. We will also have tables because most of our family is elderly and we though a majority of people might prefer to sit at a table and chat while eating rather than just standing around or trying to hold everything in their lap.
