I just found I’m pregnant! I have taken 3 tests and all of them were positive and I also went to the doctors yesturday to take a test too. It’s still early since I havent missed my period yet. I’m suppose to get it tomorrow. So I’m paranoid that I can hurt my baby easily, I was playing with my kitty and landed on my stomach while trying to catch her, Could I hurt the baby? I felt more cramping yesturday and fluttering my stomach. Today I don’t feel much today, am I overacting? This is our first baby

baby is pretty much a tiny ball of cells right now and is well protected. No you didn’t hurt te baby and it takes a lot to do so.

Babies live in happy fluid cushions for a reason. I would avoid falling down stairs or plane crashes but the cat on your stomach isnt going to hurt it.

@ItsDestiny: also, cramping on and off is normal especially in the first few weeks. As long as it isn’t accompanied by heavy bleeding you are probably okay. Symptoms in pregnancy come and go.

You are overreacting. 🙂 Assuming you are ~4 weeks, your uterus is still likely the exact same size it always was and well padded by all the rest of your organs/muscles/skin/fat. It would take much more extreme trauma to cause any damage; you can even sleep on your stomach for quite a while yet. Best of luck!

@ItsDestiny: Considering I fell on my pregnant belly at 7 months and he was okay, we spent 6 hours in the ER to make sure. You will be fine.

Oh good Thank you ladies, I thought I was just being paranoid. I very excited for our baby! 🙂

Just wanted to say congrats and yes – you’ll be a-ok! Totally normal to be paranoid, especially in the first few weeks. Luckily, babies are very resiliant! 🙂 Congrats!!!!

Congrats!! I get being worried about every little thing, but from what I understand, like PPs say, we’re really well padded in there! The things you can do are eat and sleep well, take prenatals, and just take care of yourself in general. Happy and healthy 9 months!!

Yeah you’re definitely not going to hurt anything. I went skiing today at 7 wheels pregnant and fell twice, not hard and it didn’t even cross my mind that it could hurt anything.

As my Mom likes to say “You’ll hurt yourself before you hurt the baby!”
I laid on my stomach comfortably until about 14 weeks. After that, it was uncomfortable for me! But baby would still be fine.

Like the other ladies said, you’re totally fine. Baby is teeny-tiny and well padded. I slipped and fell on an icy sidewalk during my third trimester – now that was scary! Even then, DD was just fine.

@ItsDestiny: Since you mentioned having a cat, make sure you ask someone else to change the kitty litter while you are pregnant to avoid exposing the baby to Toxoplasmosis.

At this stage, it’s just a bundle of cells hidden behind your pubic bone. Unless you’re going to punch yourself in the gut, you’ll be fine.

Could you hurt your baby or end your pregnancy doing something physical? Yeah, but you’d have to try pretty hard. At this stage, you’re more likely to hurt the development of the baby with drugs, alcohol, or other substances. But other than that, you should keep on with your normal life and exercise routine. I went downhill skiing at 22 weeks (*cough* IANAD, cannot recommend this to anyone, risk is involved, etc) and everything felt great and was fine. Had two very minor falls, and neither time did I hurt myself or the baby.
