Definitely! Just take a couple pails with you to make sure you get the right size paper or fabric. It would look great if Im picturing the right thing ;)
I'll try and upload a picture when I get home in an hour or so!

Are those like it?
I think you could DEFINITELY D-I-Y it :o) Give it a go! Check our the Weddingbee tutorials or look around for some help or step-by-step guides :o) Cute idea!
What about cutting out shapes from contact paper and then spray painting the buckets?
@ColeB that might work too. The ones that I saw online were gorgeous and a million colors a patterns, but I love polka dots and could easily spray paint a polka dot pattern.
@LaborofLove these are the general theme I'm talking about yet. The ones that I saw online/in mag were not fabric but the link you posted is essentially what mind would look like when done.
Were you talking about these buckets?

I bookmarked them during my wedding planning but never used them. Can't vouch for the DIY, but I think it is worth a shot.
Oh YEAH you could make those! Use some wrapping paper, some spray adhesive, some mod podge or clear acrylic spray paint and DIY away!
I'm so excited.. I'm still waiting but I wanna make some now!! I didn't think about using wrapping paper... awesome idea.
@LaborofLove how does mod podge work? I've heard of it but never used it.And also... how would I use clear acrylic spray paint?
The modpodge or spray paint work as a sealant do that teh paper doesn't come back off once you've glued it. The spray paint just sprays on over the top, modpodge is applied with a brush.
Gotcha.... sooo I could use spray adhesive to attach the paper/fabric what have you, and then use the modpodge or spray paint on top to make sure it stays attached?
Yep! If you do spray paint, make sure it's got two coats on.
Good luck!
Since fabric can be rather expensive, you could always use colored tissure paper too. I didn't see that for a wedding, but I went to a baby shower that did something similar to that. They used different shades of pink tissure paper (it was a girl) and glued it to the diaper can. It was really pretty and inexpensive.
Hmm, that's a good idea too! I'm so glad ya'll kinda make me think outside the box.
Fabric does get kind of expensive, but we have a couple mom and pop shops around here that always have scraps for cheap! I kinda wanna have a few different patterns, so I think I just might start buying scraps here and there.
I also made some DIY wall hangings with fabric a few years ago. The fabric I wanted was outrageous.. but I found a fabric shower curtain on sale at HomeGoods and it was perfect!
@helstrong I think those are adorable and will be a great DIY!
Modpodge is amazing....even for first timers! :)
upload pics of your progress/finished product!!
Alright. Update. I went to Archivers today, didn't buy anything.
I went to Michaels... and I commited craft store/wedding sin. I purchased things that I don't exactly have a use for... yet :) There was green and purple ribbon on sale, plus I had a 25% off everything coupon. I ended up getting rolls of ribon for less than a dollar each. I couldn't find tin pails though, I bought a plastic see-thru pail.
I then went to Joann's where I did find pails, and I bought a small white one.
I am going to attempt to make these here in just a minute, or tomorrow. I took pictures of the stuff I bought and I'll take pics while I'm making them too... but I have to find the cord to connect to the computer :)
I'll need input on which type of pail the hive likes... when I'm done. I bought small ones for now just to try it all out!
Update. I'm not smart enough to make these... and it's frustrating me.
I can't figure out how to cut the paper to put it on the pail, and make it around the handle.....ugh!
I definitely may be going with the spray paint idea, but I'm going to try fabric first, a little easier to handle than the paper I was using, I think.

Ok.... so a few months ago while perusing (spelling) wedding magaizines I found these cute little buckets. They were like tin pails, but they also came in vases of all sizes, and trays. They had awesome patterns you could get them in, and a lot of them. Of course now I can't find the magazine with them in it, or the website either. (I swear I cut it out but can't find it in my binder).
They were waaaaay to expensive for me to purchase. I was thinking of using them for center pieces in some way. Soo... here's my question.
Do you think I could take simple tin pails, use spray adhesive (or another kind of adhesive) and maybe cover it with cute scrapbook paper or even fabric?
Sorry I can't upload a picture of the type of pail i'm talking about.. I'm at work and when I try to add a picture my computer crashes :)
