It can. A friend of mine actually has a projector in his house instead of a regular TV. I don't know how it works, but I imagine an A/V technician in your area could do it.
As long as your TV has a VGA port, you can hook up a projector!
And for more clarification:

It's the same thing you'd use to hook up your laptop to a projector. Newer TVs should have this output option (our new one does), but I'd make sure you double check. I have a friend who also does the projector setup for TV...I believe in that case, the cable box is hooked up to the projector directly. Anyway, hope this helps =)!
Yes this is very possible -- read the posts above mine. I do this in my classroom all the time.

During our cocktail hour, we would like to project the Kentucky Derby on the wall. (getting married a year from today, on Derby Day, dad's a racehorse trainer, lots of 'horse people' will be there). I think it'll be perfect timing during our cocktail hour.
But.... is this possible? I'm thinking I could rent a projector, but does anyone know if it could be hooked to the TV in some way??
Thanks in advance, bees.
