I will be honest and say .. I do not know how to do make up.  At all.  I feel like my skin is really icky right now (uneven, a few blemishes, small acne scars) and has no brightness to it at all (after all, it is February so I haven't seen the sun in months ;) I don't want to go to a tanning bed... I know it helps my complexion in the short run, but I do not want the long-term results (more skin damage!)... so I am just looking for pics of make up and what products you use for some inspiration! :)  Specifically, foundation and concealer.  Please and thank you!

Give me a few minutes and I'll do my full face and then post it on here for you to see. I actually looked through all of my photos on the computer and nothing was a good picture of it.

I don't have a full face to post, but if your skin is lacking luster, try Make-Up Forever HD Primer - I seriously swear by this stuff. Available at department stores or Sephora. Plus the ladies there can give you tips on how to select good makeup for your skin!

Make-up can be really intimidating. Honestly, a lot of what I learned was from trial and error and You Tube videos. Ask a friend whose makeup always looks good to give you tips on application. Sit down for a few hours one evening and just have a big bottle of make-up remover and some ideas.

@Valhalla: What kind of foundation would you recommend with the primer? Which color of primer would you recommend?

No pic, but I find that a little blush on my cheeks makes all the difference this time of year. I wear a cream foundation (whereas in the summer I wear mineral powder), blush, tinted lipchap, mascera, and eyeshadow...sometimes pencil liner.  I think it is a great time of year for makeup!

Ok here is my full face. Sorry this will be pretty picture heavy...and also going to apologize that both options are bright eyeshadow but I'm a pretty funky! I did this really fast so please ignore how sloppy this all looks. This is me with just my foundation on and a little mascara:

This my full face. I have on foundation, eyeliner, pink eyeshadow on bottom layer, grey on top to make a purpley pink, a little blush (which is just the lightest color of bronzer I could find) and mascara. I don't usually wear lipstick, just chapstick.

This is me with my eyes closed. I did the left eye in the photo a little darker and added eyeliner on the top so you could see the difference. can I see your full-face makeup? : wedding DSC01880

And this is all the makeup that I just used. Everything. The eyeshadow I got from Hot Topic, and the undereye concealer is a facial highlighting pen from Mary Kay and is the number 2 color. The bronzer is called cheekers by Cover Girl. It's really old and obviously well used so I'm not sure the shade but I think it's the brightest one. The foundation is also the lightest one can I see your full-face makeup? : wedding DSC01881

and eyes open. Again. Sorry so picture heavy. And also, my eyebrows are awful. can I see your full-face makeup? : wedding DSC01886

As you can see I'm a very pale person. I'm not afraid to try any makeup and I'm sorry that those pictures are awful but I did it really really quick. I do wear normal eyeshadow sometimes but this is my fun look :)

@cherrycoke: If you have acne issues, you can try using Clinique's line of acne foundations - I find they work well and don't clog pores. I also use Bare Minerals powder to provide light coverage - more for day to day wear. I also have problem skin, so I try not to wear foundation all the time. As for the Make-Up Forever Primer, if lackluster skin is an issue, they have a whitish tinted primer that works well, but if your skin is red and uneven with acne scars (like mine), I use their green tinted primer. The green cancels the red, and then once come foundation is on I can totally fake better skin.

I would definitely recommend Clinique also.  I'm not familiar with their acne line, but I use Perfectly Real makeup and line smoothing concealer (I'm between shades of the concealers, so I just mix the two together :)  The foundation and concealers are both oil free.  I also break out from time to time, and this combination of makeup really works for me!  Visit the clinique counter when they have a bonus/ free gift and you'll get mascara and some other extras.

I"m not exactly a make up guru either.  I like to look up videos on youtube, because people will put anything on there.  I particularly like jlovesmac1. She gives step by step tutorials on eyes, lips, brows.... everything.  You can use your own make up, whatever works best for you, but she tells you some great tips and tricks to get great looks.

Unfortunately, the only pic I have of my full face makeup is from Halloween, so my makeup is extremely heavy in this pic.  I'm also wearing false eyelashes.  (Ignore my hair.  I was a flapper).

can I see your full-face makeup? : wedding Makeup

I, too, learned everything I know about makeup from youtube.  My mother never wore makeup when I was younger, and my sisters don't either.  They decided I was the family makeup expert and made me do everyone's makeup for my sister's wedding (I am so not a makeup expert).

I am also a cheapskate.  I cannot justify $30 for eyeshadow.  I really like Beauty Broadcast on youtube because she does mainly drugstore products.  I've bought several of the products she's recommended in the videos, and I have had far far more hits than misses from her recs.

If you're just starting out and experimenting, I highly recommend eyeslipsface.com.  All of the products are under $10.  I have never ordered any of their foundations, though, because I'm afraid about color matching and purchasing online.  Their $1 eyeshadow pallets are great!  4 colors for a dollar, and they are extremely pigmented.  I also love their $1 eyeshadow brush.  It is the best brush I've ever purchased.

ETA:  In that pic, I am wearing the E.L.F. eyeshadow pallet in "drama," the E.L.F. eyeliner pencil in black, black liquid liner that I've had forever, E.L.F. falsies, and the ELF blush/bronzer combo.  Maybeline outlast lipstick.

Not a makeup guru at all, I had my makeup professionally done for my bridals and I did it myself for the wedding (it was just some tinted moisturizer by MAC, lashes, and lipstain by loreal I think)

I don't have any pics to show you right now, but I can do my full face makeup tomorrow after work, or sometime this weekend & post a pic for you to see! I am definitely not a makeup guru, but have had great success from watching youtube videos (how I learn how to do everything.. haha).  I love Kandee Johnson's bridal makeup tutorial.. I just used some similar things I had laying around in my makeup bags (I don't have any of that MAC stuff she uses, unfortunately).  All I had was the black, and then some shimmery gold, and the purple/dark brown/light almost skin colored eyeshadow trio from Almay, and black eyeliner.  My FI loves it, says it really makes my eyes pop.. haven't been photographed wearing it yet though, so fingers crossed it turns out okay.. haha, will take some pics & post for you tomorrow/saturday!
