I actually ordered this dress yesterday. I haven't picked out a veil yet but I did try some on with the dress. I noticed that thick lace (mantilla style) doesn't really go with the dress; it seems to take away from it. IMO, I think the lace appliques would look good as long as it wasn't too thick. I also tried one on with beading right on the edge and it looked good. I didn't like the ribbon so much but that just might be my personal taste.

@noenyu: Thanks, I wasn't so sure!! I'm not a big fan of the beading on the edge, I'm trying to bring the lace into the top part but it might be too much....

The top of the head? As hard as I have been trying, I can't find a veil that has the lace like the one in the picture. Most of them have a full lace edge and then those appliques toward the bottom inside of the veil.

Try going back to the place you got your dress and ask them to try on veils with the dress on. Can you still change your mind on the order?

Personally I like lace lol. I got this picture from my mom that she took of me with a thinner mantilla veil and now that I see it, I think it looks really good with the dress. It's probably the one I'll be going with.

that looks really good on you! I like the lace around the edge, but didn't know if the appliques on mine would be too much?? There are none on the head, just starting around the ear (on pic) and go down on the sides to the back....

@noenyu: I can give you the website that sells them, or the name/phone of the store I bought the veil from if you like that particular one, I'm in Nor CA too...

I have the same dress and wondering the same question!! What veil to wear? I really want a cathedral length but am thinking it will cover up the beautiful details on the back. What length are you Sabelle brides getting? I agree that the lace in a veil may take away. I'm thinking about a more simple veil with maybe a swarovski crystal edge. Ahhh choices choices!!

@hibiscusgirl: I am thinking of doing the fingertip length...I just don't like crystals on veils (my personal preference) but it's so hard to find the lace that matches the bottom of the dress...the appliques match it perfectly on the veil I bought, but I think it might be too much....I'm pretty sure I can cancel my order, the shop is very lenient...

@Gina-Marie: Yeah you could always see how it looks with the dress then make the decision then. The appliques are gorgeous on the veil in the pic above. You might find out that it looks perfect together? When I originally bought my dress, they put a veil on me that had these gorgeous lacey designs on it that had crystals on it. I will post some pictures below of me in the dress with that veil in hopes of it helping you in your decision. Just imagine that the lace designs don't have crystals on them. I didn't end up going with that veil because it was so expensive.

I have been putting off finding a veil for awhile because I just can't decide! I'm thinking of buying one on etsy but I have to be sure if I do that. I like the crystals on the edge but I'm not sure if that is too much for the dress. Plus, my jewelry will have swarovski crystals and pearls. I may just get a plain veil. Thanks for your post because you are inspiring me to move this up on my list! :)

@hibiscusgirl: That looks so beautiful on you!

I did try on that veil with the dress, and really liked it, but now, like every other thing with the wedding, I am having second thoughts...the appliques match the bottom perfect, just worried it might be too much, you know? I love the lace edging on veils but it seems it's almost impossible to match the dress lace, you know? I don't like crystals on the edge so that's out...and don't like the unfinished edge..I'm picky I know :)

I won't be wearing any jewlery, I have long hair so I'm wearing it down in big curls, so my only bling will be the dress, E ring....

What kind of petticoat are you wearing, I bought the "ballgown" style one on ebay, but am finding the crinoline not poofy enough....what are you doing?

@Gina-Marie: Thanks! If you liked it and thought it looked good but are having second thoughts, I suggest going again and trying on veils with the dress. It'll at least give you a chance to decide that it's not what you like or calm the second thoughts. I think it will look good. Maybe they could do a special order type of thing and add the lace to the top like you wanted?

@hibiscusgirl: You look beautiful! I think beading will work with the dress. I tried a beaded veil with it and it looked good, just not my taste. I also thought about cathedral length (the veil I have on in the picture is actually cathedral but looks short because it was being fixed) but I too wonder if it's too much for the dress and takes away from the back. With cathedral, they back will be covered by the veil and then it'll probably be bustled for the rest of the night so it wouldn't get to be shown much. Anyone know how long the train is?

@noenyu: Thanks for the advice...also, I tried on the cathedral/chapel lengths and to be honest it just was toooo much for me, I'm only 5'1, 112 pds, so I was literally lost underneath everything! I'm jealous of the girls that can pull it off though, love those long veils!

I think I'm going to go back to the store and try on some other veils, just to put my mind at rest, My mom thinks the lace around the edging may be a bit too spanish looking and take away from the dress, but maybe I can find a very delicate small lace....although I am in LOVE with the thick spanish style lace..

@Gina-Marie: Oh I love the lace applique! You're wearing the Sabelle, though, right? I would maybe go with something really simple and sheer, but with length. The dress is enough of a statement, and your veil should compliment, not compete.

@MissHoneyBun: Hey Miss HoneyB...I really have my heart set on fingertip length, but don't like the raw edge, or crystal edge, and the lace edge seems to over power, the lace appliques match the lace on the bottom of the dress but you are right I am worried it may be too much......I swear I NEVER knew I was indecisive nor did I know how many decisions a wedding would involve!!

@Gina-Marie: I honestly think the lace is okay as long as it's not too thick. When it's thick it does over power.

@Gina-Marie: Then go with a finger-tip length, but I agree with noenyu: if the lace it too thick it will overpower.
