@FutureMrsLadolcetta:  Yes, you can still lose weight after the first fitting but it isn’t a good idea.  Is your dress a zip up or a corsette?

My salon told me they don’t take the dress in until after the 2nd fitting for this reason. so many brides loose weight in the last few weeks before the wedding. I think it would be worth speaking to them to see if you can do things like the lenght and bustle first before taking the dress in?

My fitting schedule went like this: #1: hem. #2: bustle. #3- straps, taking it in.

They didn’t want to in case I lose weight- I’m sure Kleinfeld’s will do the same for you if you ask.

I wanted to lose weight up until the very last minute, so my tailor hemmed it first. She didn’t actually take the dress in until a month & a half before the wedding. She was so booked up though, that she basically in no uncertain terms said that if it didn’t fit before the wedding (too tight or too lose) she wouldn’t be able to do anything for me.

Yes, I think you can still try to lose weight after your first fitting…especially If it is a corset back. I have lost 12-14 lbs since I purchased my dress in January. I originally weighed between 172-174 when I purchased the dress. It is a size 14. I haven’t had my first fitting with the bridal salon but I did have a pre-trial with a friend that used to work in bridals. She put me into the gown at my house and tied up the corset as tight as she could to see what alternations would be needed. It is a corset back and it looks great! As of now (depending on the time of day) I weigh between 160-162lbs. So my goal is to lose at least 5 more pounds before the wedding. I am unsure as to how this is going to affect alternations because right now I only need it hemmed. But I might not even need that once I get the petti-coat for underneath the skirt. Crossing my fingers!
