So I recently purchesed my flower girl dresses from Davids Bridal. I’ve never really heard good things about them but I thought that with just getting the flowergirls’ dresses that I would be safe. Well I have 3 flowergirls. 2 of them are twin girls and they are only 6 years old but are kinda chunky. They are super cute and sweet little girls though! Well Davids bridal didnt carry flowergirl dresses in their size so our sales lady took their measurments and ordered them. We also bought the sashes to go around all the dresses. We already are having a problem with those because at the checkout I told the sales clerk I wanted sashes with the dresses so she just asked me my color then gave me them. On the tag it says one size fits all, so I thought we were in the clear. When we got home I still was a little worried so I had the girls try them on. Low and behold they were too small. And in very small print underneath the ONE SIZE FITS ALL they have “Will fit sizes 3t-8” Ummm thats NOT one size fits all!
So I called the store and the lady wont let me return them saying “All sales are final”. Ummm Excuse me?!?!?! YOU GAVE IT TO ME! She was like….”Well we can sell you bridesmaid sashes”. GRRRR! WHATEVER!
Well we just recently got the flowergirls dresses in. One came in two weeks before the other so I took the first one home because I was afraid they might lose it at the store. When I pulled the dress out of the bag I immidietly knew its going to be wayyyy to big. Which Im confused because they TOOK HER MEASURMENTS! How can it be wrong????? I also heard they charge an arm and a leg for alterations.
Not sure what to think of this store anymore…….

I personally didn’t like David’s Bridal. I had to get my Bridesmaid or Best Man dress there, and just found them generally unpleasant to work with. They didn’t take us seriously, there was a huge difference between sizes 2 and 4 (more than normal) maybe because they wanted us to have to get alterations? I just generally didn’t think my dress was worth what I paid for it, it felt like it was bad quality and yet I paid $115 at a discount, plus sash. I could easily find a cute cocktail dress on sale for $115 that would have been much more flattering and well made!
So I just don’t do DB anymore, unless I’m a Bridesmaid or Best Man for someone else who wants to go there. Since you already ordered the dresses, I’d just go through with it, and make sure you stick up for yourself… I think I remember another poster saying at one point they had to speak to a higher-up about returning something, so if it doesn’t fit and you want to return it, I’d try that. Good luck!

I’m so sorry you had such a bad experience there. I was nervous getting our bridesmaid dresses at Davids Bridal because I had heard negative things too, but so far, they’ve been great.
I’d definitely recommend getting your alterations done elsewhere. Do a google search for seamstresses in your area, and read reviews to find an affordable/quality one!

Oh boy, you don’t want me to get started on DB. I’ve had a HORRIBLE experience with them re: my bridal gown.
They are hard core on their no return policy but they will do exchanges. I think you should be able to exchange the dresses for smaller sizes and exchange the sashes for larger ones. I’d go in and ask to speak with the manager from the start though – don’t even waste your time on one of their regular sales people. I have found they do not have good sales people at all. 🙁 I have learned the hard way via DB it’s true that you get what you pay for. Ugh

P.S. My 5 yr old Flower Girl, who is very petite but typically wears a size 5, had to go down to a size 4. Sounds like all of their Flower Girl dresses run big.

Agree with farmersdaughter – definitely get the alterations done elsewhere. As for the sashes, bring in the ones that are too small, ask to speak with the manager, and see if she’ll let you exchange the unused sashes for Bridesmaid or Best Man sashes. I don’t have personal experience exchanging stuff at DB, but it seems like other ladies around the hive have actually been able to get DB to exchange stuff. Good luck!
