I think it will mess up the ribbon if you put them in the dishwasher. Since the water and soap may ruin it, how about just a wet paper towel or even a paper towel with a little bit of windex.
Putting them in the dishwasher will definitely screw up the ribbon. I'd take a damp cloth or some paper towel to them and see if that does the trick.
Yes, the dishwasher will mess up the ribbon. Either remove the ribbon and put it back on after washing, or find a different way to wash them. I think removing the ribbon sounds like less work than washing each one individually by hand.

I bought these candle holders and hot-glued ribbon around the top, now that I'm finished I realized I should have washed them first as they look kind of dingy. Can I stick them in the dishwasher on a cold cycle now or do you think it would mess up the ribbon?
