I’m a guest, not the bride.
There’s a brunch the day after the wedding, I’ve been told to wear a dress, and it’ll be cold.
I already own this dress. I’d wear it with black tights.
Yea or nay? [ETA: to the wedding itself I’m wearing blue! This is for the next day.]

Personally, I wouldn’t mind. It’s the morning after. The bride only “owns” white the day of. Some brides might care though. How close are you? Can you ask her?

Regardless of the color, if its going to be cold, I wouldnt wear it.

I think it would be best to pick something else, just to be on the safe side

Yup… go ahead.
Officially The Bride (and Groom) get just 24 Hours… 1 Day
From the Rehearsal Dinner thru to the end of the Wedding Reception.

I’m always surprised how many people now wear white/ivory to a wedding when they’re a guest. Black and white is very common now for guests on the day of the wedding so I wouldn’t ever think your dress being worn on the day after would be a problem. If you wore a wedding dress then yes, a problem lol

I’m biased because I think the whole “don’t wear white to a wedding” is ridiculous (although I still wouldn’t do it), but I think this dress clearly couldn’t be considered at all bridal, and with black tights would look super cute. Maybe a black cardigan or a short fitted black blazer on top to keep you warm.

@mepayne: I’ve only met her once. I’m friends with the groom, and he’s not the kind of guy who would care/even be aware that this might be an issue. 🙂
@cdncinnamongirl: I’m biased this way, too — I think the whole “don’t wear white” is silly… but I don’t want to make a bad move.
Thanks for everyone’s input. I think with tights plus a cardigan it should be ok, but I’ll go with whatever the bees’ consensus is!

I say go for it – there’s no chance of you being mistaken for the bride. Perhaps ask your friend to ask her though, if you’re concerned about it?

At my wedding the best man’s fiancee wore an ivory lace knee length dress. I thought this was a little risky in case I wore ivory lace. I considered that rude on the day of our wedding and lucky for her I didn’t choose a dress like that. She was at the top table and it could have been ugly. Your dress is really cute and in no way bridal.

The couple gets one day, not a month, a week or a year. I’m all for not wearing white on the wedding day, but i think most people go overboard and say nothing cream or champagne or beige either, no white, fine but otherwise for the wedding who cares.
