I’m going to a wedding in a few weeks and don’t know the bride… so I dont know if she has a silky dress or a lacy dress, etc. I will be wearing a little black dress, cream shoes and this cream lace bolero… Am I treading on risky ground with this outfit?

if you are worried about it, i’d pcika diff colour bolero.

I think you’re fine…it’s just a bolero…

I’ve called and asked brides if they would mind me wearing a black dress to their wedding. So yes, black and cream is very risky.
That being said, I don’t think many brides would mind. I definitely wouldn’t. Who do you know in the wedding? You might want to run it by them.

I think it’ll be fine. To be honest, I didn’t know there were people that cared about this until I joined the Bee! No one should mind you wearing a cream bolero and, if anyone does give you death stares, then just take it off.

You are fine. It is just the bolero.

I am the plus 1 of a friend of the groom. So pretty far removed from the bride. I wouldn’t mind personally if someone wore my would-be outfit to my wedding as I draw my line at wearing a white/cream dress. Perhaps I’ve been watching too much “Bridezilla”, but best not take the chance.

Completely fine! I can’t even remember what people wore to my wedding.

@braydurfey: can you post what the dress looks like? I could definitely see a bride having a problem with that bolero because it looks kind of bridaly. If you think it might be an issue then just pick different colored shoes and a different colored bolero.
Edited to say: Love that dress, so pretty! The bride will not notice most likely and unless she is wearing a lace bolero it shouldn’t be a problem.

most of your outfit (aka your dress) is not white – so yes, the white bolero is fine I think

Here’s the dress I’ve have it with. very simple.

My father in law’s wife (fiance at the time) wore a black skirt and white button down. I did not care that she had white in her outfit! I think it’s fine since you’re wearing a black dress.

I think wearing a black dress to a wedding is a-okay, however I wouldn’t wear that colour of a bolero/shrug… Especially if you don’t know her. You don’t want to be ‘that girl’ if the bride is very sensitive and sees another girl wearing white. Pretty dress though!

Ok. Because I obviously have too much time on my hands. Here is the photoshopped image of the full outfit. It will be with nude (obviously not cream, a lot darker) shoes.
