I'm getting pretty tired of writing dress posts, comparing dresses, debating my budget (i.e. $2400 or $1100), thinking of what fits my ceremony, reception, me, my fiance, my parents wishes, etc, etc, etc...

Please oh please, I hope this is my last post!  I'm so horrible at decisions though and this dress has elements I never usually like (french poofy bustle things), and is a bit crazier than I ever would usually go for (If i look back in 20 years will I think 80's poof weird?).  And then, considering I thought since it had the bit of something different, my mom would really like it (as she LOVED the craziest dress ever!)  So, apparently not.  But, even though it took me a good 5-10 minutes to warm up to it, I REALLY warmed up to it and never wanted to take it off.  I wanted to skip around the store in it!  And ya, after putting on the veil, I almost did well up with tears!  I showed ALL the previous dresses to my local girls and FI's sister and everyone was always like "uh huh" not exactly "gasp, wow!" I showed the dress today to FI's mom and sister and his mom almost started crying and his sister actually finally showed interest in it :-)

Basically, in my mind, I was frolicking through an imaginary field in one of the Estee Lauder "Beautiful" commercials .

It's the Pronovias Megan and coming in at $1700, no custom hollow to hem and only minor alterations, and a cheaper veil I found, I still come in at close to my original $2000 "look" budget.

This is the back, we were trying to work a bustle, lol.  It looks like it's going to be complicated, haha.

So, I feel better in this dress than I have in any other.  It's completely different, not just from a classic timeless style, but, I mean, the dress is actually different than a normal one, lol. So.... Thoughts?

Here's a link where you can better see the back.  The tulle comes out at the bottom in the back...

That is a gorgeous unique dress and it looks great on you!  There is no crazy 80s resemblance at all.  I really think you should get it.

I'm not worried it looks 80's but that in another 20 years I'll think the same I do now about the 80's dresses and big poofy sleeves, etc :-) but in short, ya, I actually do really like it! As crazy at is it, I really do!

That's a really pretty dress. Who cares if it looks dated in 20 years? It'll be your wedding dress and you'll love it no matter what!

I really don't think it will look dated.  It has some classic styling even though it is definetly unique.  And it really isn't that crazy looking!

i totally love this dress..... for photos up close with that wonderful runching fabric & bodice is magic and then va va va voom for full body pics

    beautiful dress

edit: btw, who cares how your dress measures up to fashion in 20 years time (not that i think this resembles 80's at all!), as long as youre still happily married you could be wearing a jeans and a tee and you still would have had a great wedding day

It might look dated in 20 years. On the other hand, it looks stunning on you right now ;)

If I were you, I'd go for it.

I think its a gorgeous dress!  I think its pretty hard to find a dress that wont look "dated" years and years from now!  My moms dress was beautiful when she got married but 30 years ago, it looks dated :)  Id totally go for it, it sounds like you fell in love with it!

I think it looks very unique, very special.  I think you are making a great choice.  The shape flatters you perfectly!  I bought a Pronovias gown and I am in love with all of their designs.

I am trying not to be biased on my vote because I have never been a fan of the scallop top, but I voted 1 for you.  I think with your figure it looks absolutely perfect on you.  I love the fabric, the gathering, the tulle....all of it.  I would have tried that on myself if it wasn't for the top.  Question though, I can't tell, is the dress a champagne color? It looks just a little off compared to the color of the tulle on the bottom.

Awww, crebre - that is probably the best comment so far! :-D  there's a few in here from people I know have commented on my many threads, so to hear from you and others that this one really blows the other dresses out of the water is I guess what i was hoping for, then again, how can it not?

@klp: EXACTLY LOL!!! BTW we think alike (or I was subconsciously influenced) look at this one http://www.alfredangelo.com/Collections/ProductDisplay.aspx?productID=4db634fe-5c8e-4109-a208-e7099522115d&categoryID=32e5a88c-cbf1-498f-afcf-dbfca138c5d3&pg=0 It's currently my favorite (and I am hoping I can try it on this week lol!!)  and angelina by maggie is another fave of mine (the back is very similar... to your dress)...

so when are you making your decision?!

It's really making me sad that both my mom and dad aren't on board for this dress. I get that it should be ultimately my decision, however, since they are paying for the wedding, I can tell my mom is really bummed I want to go this direction and it really bums me out.

She and my dad both would rather see me in

Can it be, did I finally find, the ONE!? : wedding 4242967005 6dc1bb1a51 photo-1

Reasons for not liking the dres

"Too busy, everyone will be focused on the dress and not the marriage that's happening."

"The back reminds me of the costume I made for you in Grade School when you were Lolly the Lobster." (great, my bro still won't let that one go!)

    "It's just crazy"

"There's just too much. I like the top but that's it. There's so much in the front with the satin, and the tulle, and the bunches, and the bustles, and everything else, it's just... too.... much."

I could go on... It really just puts a damper on this.

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that they aren't being supportive.

I kind of feel like once you make your decision it's everyone else's job to support you.  It's like the people who make fun of your baby's name to your face...you choose the name because you loved it and if they loved you they would know better.

So what do you think you are going to do?

what! i can't see how your parents don't love this dress. it is SO beautiful, just the right balance of sophistication, bling, and elegance, and you look INCREDIBLE in it.  the other one is nice, but the whole skirt is kind of boring.  i hope they come around, because this dress is GREAT on you!

I guess I'm the odd bee out but I really think the first one is a little...much.  I mean it's pretty and I love the rusching on the bodice, but the back does remind me of a poufy lobster costume my friend had for her puppy (sorry!!!).  I like the second dress and find it more timeless than the first.  I mean trends go in and out...do we all remember the poofy 80s sleeves from way back when? The first dress is like...completely trendy. Which is cool if that's what you're looking for!  I think sticking with a timeless gown is a better choice...but that's just me! The second reminds me more of a wedding gown I guess.

I think you should go with whichever you love in the end because hey it is your wedding.

:( I am so sorry your parents don't love it. I really think its amazing. Maybe you could show them a bridal magazine with some really outrageous dresses to help them see that particular dress is not so crazy after all!
