So I finally found and purchased a dress with my mother! I was so excited in the store, I loved the color and the beading in the dress so much. The crappy part is that I am a street size 14/16 and the sample the store had was a 10….yeah, clearly it didn’t fit in the slightest. We were able to wiggle it over my hips but that was about it so we didn’t get a great idea of the shape on me. I was SO in love with the feel of the dress that I didn’t care in the slightest and we purchased it in my size that day!
When I got home I went online to find a picture to show my friends and I realized that the dress is classified as a sheath dress. While dress shopping I KNEW that the two silhouettes I did not look good in were ball gown and sheath….so yeah.
My question is: Is there any way that this dress could be turned into a fit and flare? Has anyone tried to do something like this? I really enjoyed the way I looked in fit and flare but I didn’t find one that I liked. I got the dress so far under budget that I have about $700 to put into alterations if necessary. Also, it wont need any hemming because Casablanca does free custom length on this dress!
Any bees with suggestions would really be appreciated! My body type needs the help to define hips. I have none!! I have a butt and a large chest. The way my mom describes it “If you look at me from the front, there are no curves, but if you look from the side you can see where they are hiding”. lol
