So, the title asks it all. I was wondering if I could have the maid of honor wear a…say….lavender dress, while the other bridemaids wear pink dresses. Is that too much of a contrast? Is anyone making their maid of honor wear something different from the rest? In color and style? What disguishing marks? ^__^

My maid of honor is wearing a ginger (pinkish red) Watters & Watters dress while the rest of the girls are wearing a choice of 2 Bill Levkoff dresses in a dark brown…. i love the look of a contrasting MOH and the non matchy dresses. The only thing that is consistant is the tea length…. i say go for it 🙂

I’m having my MOH wear a pink dress and the rest of the girls wear black. That’s a big contrast but those are the wedding colors. I also had friends have the MOH wear a different length dress, different style dress and they all look great and really make a contrast. You should definitely go for it.

If there’s one thing I really learned from the ‘bee is that we can make our own rules and guidelines for our wedding. Make it our own, put our own stamp on it. So bring on the different colors, and anything else you may want to do. Let your personality shine!

Of course you can!! I have two MOHs and they are both wearing espresso while the rest of the ladies are wearing teal! People might not like it – but I think it will look great! Good luck!

My MOH (my sister) is wearing a different color AND different style dress from my other bridesmaids. The bridesmaids will be wearing long dresses in claret (a deep red) from Dessy Collection, and my sister will be in an eggplant color lehnga (see Mrs. Jasmine’s posts for an idea of what these traditional South Asian outfits look like). But, to tie it all together, each of the bridesmaids will have bouquets of purple flowers (probably calla lilies) and my sister will carry a bouquet of red flowers. And then my bouquet will be a combindation of those colors…

My sister is also my MOH and will also be wearing a different color dress. All of my BMs will wear espresso cotton cady dresses (their choice of style) from J. Crew and my sister will wear a light pink from the same collection. These are our wedding colors as well.

Totally! And Why Not? I second beesknees when she said "If there’s one thing I really learned from the ‘bee is that we can make our own rules and guidelines for our wedding. Make it our own, put our own stamp on it. So bring on the different colors, and anything else you may want to do. Let your personality shine!"
