I don’t think it will look like a wedding dress once you cut it & bring it to your knee. It will just look like a glitzy, tight, cocktail dress. I say do it! I thought about cutting mine too!

Plus, it will feel great to be able to keep wearing your wedding dress time and time again, think of how fun that will be!

Maybe if you got a sash to wear with it and placed the sash over the detail that is just below the bust? Or if you wore your hair down….The dress is gorgeous, so I totally understand where you are coming from! I think as long as you keep your accessories and hair less formal it will be ok.

I think it would look very good cut & look like a fancy dress not a wedding dress, unless you were to wear that veil too ;). Yay what a fun idea!!

I think go for it! I ended up buying a cocktail dress for my wedding dress but I would have definitely had reuse as one of my big dress requirements.

i say go for it.  My mom did this with her wedding dress as well.

@CCSR, you could even just do a few tiny stitches to hold a sash in place so that you could change the color of the sash whenever you wanted w/o too much damage to the dress.

I think it would make a great cocktail dress if cut shorter.  Also, Emily’s suggestion to add a colored sash will really make it look less wedding-y.

I have the same dress, and was planning on cutting it short as well! Even if you can’t wear it often, you can make it a tradition and wear it for your anniversary (it’s a reason to go to a nice dinner too). 🙂
