Ok, so my SO’s last name is Cadena which is spanish and we would like a good first and middle name for our soon to be born son. I like the name Alejandro, but Alejandro Cadena to me doesn’t sound right…I would like the name to be hispanic if that’s ok. I thought of Juan Carlos Cadena, and that sounded ok, but I’m not too fond of Juan. Any help would be much appreciated!!

I think Alejandro sounds great but I love the name Andres. That being said, if you live in the states, I recommend having someone who does not speak Spanish pronounce the name. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the name Paloma if we have a girl but when i heard my sister-in-law (an elementary school teacher) butcher it, i realized I didnt want my kid hearing her or his name pronounced incorrectly all the time!

I’ve met some kids named Maximiliano. They go by Maxi and Max. Maybe Maximiliano Alejandro Cadena?

I am eh on Alejandro as it reminds me of that Lady Gaga song. Interested in people’s responses and also second @mixtaperomance: idea of having some else pronounce to, unless you live in a high Hispanic area. For a boy I really like Benjamin, but also realize that besides my immediate family pronouncing it the Latin way everyone else will just say Ben-ja-min, which is eh. Here are some others from my list:
Since hubby is taking my name and it’s Hispanic our conversatons are a bit comical regarding names since he’s use to top 20 names as boys names and can barely pronounce some of my suggestions. Not sure if you are Hispanic or that is your SO’s name, but maybe look into some family names.

Just some ideas taken from my Uruguayan FI’s family, who have a surname that is similar in length and vowel sounds.

How about Emilio for the first name? I am still trying to think of the right middle name.

I love the name Alejandro! It goes so well with your last name 🙂
Here are some other Spanish names which may go well with your last name or can be used as middle names:
– Cristian (Cristian Alejandro Cadena, sounds good!)
– Adan (variation of Adam in English)

@2beeornot2bee: I’m not sure how the names should pair with each other, but these are the names I like with your last name:
Actually, I think any of the first three would make a good first name, and Ramon would make a great middle name.

@Mokara: That name just seems too long..I don’t know why it just does lol
@aliciapdx: I like Eduardo but unfortunately they are the name of two relatives that I have and I am not that close to my family so I think that I will have to pass on those
@shootznladrz89: Hi! It’s pronounced ka day nah, that’s the spanish/mexican way to say it, I hope that helps!
@Schatzie821: Rafael Luis..that sounds like a good one, the only problem that I have is that I wouldn’t want other kids bullying mine and calling him a ninja turtle lol. Gotta think about these things you know..
So, so far what do you guys think? do you think Alejandro Cadena sounds good? I thought maybe if he wanted to later on he could just be called Alexander, Xander, or just Alex.
