I say go for it. Bridesmaid dresses are usually such a waste. Why not get some more uses out of them.

I would let mine. In fact we are looking for my maid of honour’s dress to double as her grad ball dress!

They can wear it before if they want to, it’s their dress after all.  If I were the bridesmaid I personally wouldn’t in case it got ripped/stained.  I’m not normally a clutz but I just wouldn’t want to risk ruining the dress before I needed to wear it for the wedding.

I wouldnt.  too worried about the dresses getting stains, dirt, etc on them.  And then there are no replacements closer to your wedding.

Their money, their dress, their choice.

That said, I would not personally make that choice. I am a klutz, and would not risk messing up the dress before the wedding.

I think that would be fabulous.  This way at least all that money is put to use.

memo:  I wouldn’t care BUT I would mention that if they wreck the dress they will need to replace it…

I think if they paid for the dress, they can wear it whenever they want!  I highly doubt any of your guests would remember that they saw the dress at a different occasion!

Also be careful about buying them and altering them a year and a half before your wedding.  Sizes can change a lot in that time.  Ppl usually recommend bridesmaids/groomsmen only getting things altered within a month or so of the wedding.  In the time you have, someone could get pregnant, have a baby, take some time off and be pregnant with another baby for your wedding.  Tons of brides also change their colors or change their minds on dresses completely in 18 months.  Are these dresses pricey?

memo:  I told mine that they’re more than welcome to wear them before the wedding, and that if they somehow ruin them, they should be prepared to replace it. My sister wore hers to her company Christmas party and got loads of compliments.

I wouldnt prefer it as dresses are prone to stains, but they bought the dresses so they can do whatever they want with them

memo:  As long as you don’t mind, I say go for it! That’s actually really nice of you to do that, because typical bridezillas will start roaring and dictating them not to wear them before the wedding.
