I wore diamond white, and my husband wore white white.  NOT a problem at all.

I fully believe the idea that white shirts make off white dresses look dingy is a conspiracy by the bridal industry to make brides go crazy.

AND, I even had white white linens… also not a problem 🙂

I bought the FHs tux with a with shirt. We have both tried on our outfits (mine is ivory) and I don’t think it looked dingy. When we met with the tux place where the grooms men are renting from, he said we shouldn’t get the ivory shirts and that they didn’t look as good. He showed the difference to me and I agreed with him.

I’m wearing a ivory lace dress with a champagne underlay and FI is wearing a tan suit with a white shirt. We haven’t tried them on together but I think it won’t make a difference. In pictures, my dress looks pretty white anyway. Even if you can tell the difference, just think of it as the ivory looking ‘soft and warm’ vs ‘dingy’

pat of my party have their own tuxes and they never tell you how hard it is to BUY a off white shirt!  so we ended up with white shirts.

I think I’m going to do a patterned shirt of some sort. Partly for this reason but also because I hate the look of white shirts where you can see the undershirt beneath.

I don’t have a a really good picture to share, but please trust me – go with white shirts for the guys!  I agonized over this too since my dress was very distinctly ivory.  The white shirts look much crisper, and they absolutely do not make an ivory dress dingy!  In the pics you can only tell they are slightly different shades, which really only adds interest and texture to the pictures.

I also would suggest getting the men white shirts, too! We got our tuxes from Men’s Wearhouse and the woman there said not to get the guys ivory shirts (I had a diamond-white dress). She said the ivory just didn’t look as nice. But, I’m sure you can take a color swatch of your dress in there and compare it to the men’s white and ivory shirts to see which one you like better. Check out both and see what you think. But I agree with tksjewlery that I didn’t think the ivory shirts looked as nice as the white.

My H wore a completely white suit and I wore an ivory over champagne dress. You could tell that they’re different colors and it didn’t bother me any even though I freaked out about it while planning.

I wore ivory and so did DH (from Men’s Wearhouse)… I liked the way the colors looked together.  Here’s a pic of us in our photobooth.  🙂
