I don't think there is anything wrong with mismatching save the dates and invitations =)
It probably depends on who you talk to, but I'm doing it! I think most people probably wouldn't even notice, and I don't see why it'd matter.
Heck yeah! I wish I remembered where I saw it, but there was something I read that layed it out pretty good... Your invites usually carry more of the theme for your wedding. Your STD's are your chance to have some fun since they are generally more informal.
Ours are totally different and I like that I can sort of get the best of both worlds with invites & STD's.
i am - i am however trying to make sure the colors are there though....
VERRRRY MUCH so! My STDs were vintage movie poster style postcards- very cute but super informal. My Invites are 2 color letterpressed very romantic, very classic invitations. That's why STDs are so much fun- they're informal and personal. IMHO :o)
Mine WILL be matching but I think it is absolutely fine for them not to match :)
My friend will be having "fun" and cute photo save the dates and vera wang invites (pretty big difference) but I think it'll be fun to see both sides!
im all about matching. Im of the school of thought that the save the dates are the best way to set the tone for your weddings, as are your invites so they should match.
here is are two damask save the dates that i considered before choosing another design entirely...

both are from moira design studio in their traditional section...
We mismatched completely. STDs were vintage 60s-style, mod, and the invites were whimsical pastels.
Yes, it's totally okay! Our STDs are seriously so unrelated to our wedding colors/theme. : )
I think that you can mismatch for sure. I really don't think that people pay attention to that kind of stuff...we at least I don't. =)
I don't think they have to match at all. Just have the same 'feeling' so that people will get that your wedding is formal/informal/etc.
Mine were mismatched! Same colors, but the STDs were more playful/modern, and the Invites are more formal. I doubt any of the guests will notice at all. :)
They absolutely don't need to match! Esp. because they're often sent out in different seasons. As long as they both reflect the feel of your wedding, go for it.
Mine are differant colors simply because I didnt want anyone guessing what my colors were.. HA (evil I know :P) jk. My colors are reds and oranges and my invite was a little vintage and I thought green envelopes would suit instead. however I kept it on the gold paper were using.. simply for convieniance sake (I had already bought it)
I dont think it matters. Save the dates are supposed to be fun!

Just wondering what other bees think of this!
My invitations are a black & white damask theme. I am having a hard time finding damask save the dates that I like, so would it be completely strange to have a totally different STD?
