I would personally recommend looking at who has deals with free aeroplan/travel points etc.  When I signed up for my RBC Avion Visa I got a points bonus that was worth a domestic flight – straight off the bat 🙂 I pay the annual fee now, but get point 1-1 for each dollar spent… pretty happy with it so far.

I have the RBC Avion as well and use the points for hotels/rental cars mostly. I don’t use my credit card that often though. My fiance has the BMO World Elite credit card and the points system on it is lame as far as we can tell.

MrsCallalily:  I have an airmiles Gold card and a Scotiabank Scene Visa.  I like the Scene visa, it’s free and I get points for free movies.  Right now I have enough points for 3 date night packages (2 adults, large popcorn and 2 drinks).

MrsCallalily:  Not canadian but I have an Amazon Visa rewards card (meaning I get rewards to spend on Amazon) for every purchase.  I use Amazon a lot so this was a good card for me.  No annual fees.  I don’t like AMEX only because not every place takes it like Discover.  My husband has AMEX and is getting rid of it becuase of the fact that we’re always running into places that don’t take AMEX

We use the Visa Infinite Aerogold but, we travel a lot. Approximately 5 times per year and I find the aeroplan points add up quickly.

We also have a gold American Express card, which we don’t use very often. They had an offer when we first applied where you got enough points for a free flight if you spent $500 in the first 3 months… The points also convert one-to-one to Aeroplan so we can combine them with the points from our Aerogold Visa.

The best part about an American Express is front of the line access through Ticketmaster.

I have a PC Financial one – Loblaws Grocery chain.

The points rack up FAST!
