We registered at Bed Bath & Beyond and are thinking Home Outfitters as well but not sure yet.

If I was going to register, it’d probably be with Sears.

I went a little registry crazy, because there were stores I wanted, and stores my mom pushed that were close to my relatives and I had trouble finding things I wanted at some of the stores.

I didn’t like Sears, I had like 4 things on the registry and shouldn’t have bothered.  I had a few minor issues with the Bay, but they more than made up for it. If I did it all again, I wouldn’t have bothered with Home Outfitters.  My favourite was Bed Bath and Beyond, but there wasn’t one by many of my relatives (which is why I had Sears and HO, my mom kept telling me I needed more options for the relatives).

I also set up a Crate & Barrel one that I didn’t tell anyone about other than immediate family (I wanted the discount!)  Nothing came off as marked, even things that I bought and know I gave them the registry info for.

Ooh, I’m keeping an eye on this thread.  We’re trying to decide this week.  I want to hear more about Sears!  I’ve always been a “Bay” girl but FI thinks it’s overpriced.  We already have a house and don’t need much, but we feel obligated to register since a lot of our guests are older and might feel more comfortable with that.

Ooo! Were trying to decide right now too! We originally thought sears as that’s the only store in our home town (where we are getting married) bur when we walked through sears the selection wasn’t very good and everything was picked over and messy. When I talked to my mom about it she said the sears back home is always in bad shape. Now we are leaning more towards the bay and hoping some people will order online.

We went with the Bay, Home Outfitters and Crate and Barrel. We got most of our gifts from the Bay, and just a few from HO and C&B (they were quite a bit smaller, the Bay registry was our main one).

The customer service at the Bay was pretty good, although we did have trouble getting some gifts that went out of stock. We ended up with close to $1000 on gift cards when all was said and done, but we ended up buying a new TV so it worked out (and even now, 8 months later, we still have money left to spare on that gift card). It’s kind of annoying that the Bay doesn’t give cash back, but you can use the guft card at Home Outfitters and Zellers as well so we haven’t had too much trouble using it.

When we were registering we looked at Sears, but the selection wasn’t that great so we didn’t want to go with them. Even though the Bay is a bit overpriced, they have ridiculous sales most of the time so it evens out.

We went with the Bay because they carry  Le Creuset.  I think the Bay is actually improving their registry system to be more like BBB.

We also did a BB&B for china, because our place setting is 45 dollars cheaper at BBB then the Bay.

Most of our stuff is at BBB, The bay has our casual dinnerware which I’m buying myself and my mom is buying it for my bday – and Le Creuset.

I don’t think the bay is that bad!

We live in a fairly small place and we only have Sears for the chains.  We did Sears and a local shop.  I loved our registry at the local place WAY MORE.

Sears was Ok, but we did have some difficulties.  We weren’t notified when a couple of gifts were delivered and only found out when the thank you card didn’t reference them.  They weren’t particularly apologetic about it either.

FI and I are planning to register at Sears and Home Outfitters only because those two stores are closest for us. We live over an hour drive from the Bay.

@As_You_Wish:  Home Outfitters has all the same stuff as the Bay anyway.  🙂

FI and I registered at Sears because it was the easiest. We found the Bay to be a bit overpriced and since we live in Quebec we haven’t got many options. Bed, bath and beyond won’t even ship here. Which made me very sad when I tried to order a shower curtain I was in love with, lol

We registered at The Bay, and Sears.  The Bay also has a completion program for after the wedding where you can get a certain percentage off.

When it comes to The Bay having issues with delivery, etc, you should be able to at least track what has been purchased online through your registry.  I happened to notice items had been purchased, I just called and asked if there was anything to be picked up for us and they said yes!  I think they have a tendency to be a bit SLOW during this season when wedding registries are picking up to notify people of gifts.

I didn’t go with Outfitters because i find them more pricey than The Bay!

Good thread.  We’re trying to sort this out as well.  I seriously wish places like Canadian Tire and London Drugs had registries – they have some of the same items as The Bay, but at a fraction of the cost…  It makes me feel like we’re ripping off our guests by having them pay more for something at The Bay… 🙁

@MalbecMe:  The Bay IS overpriced, but they usually have really good sales and you get HBC points, which at lot of people do collect.
