katielynnluke:  we cancelled our big wedding and are now planning a tiny wedding about 30 ppl and honestly it’s been as much drama!!! It’s still my immediate family going and they seem to be the ones with endless opinions! Plus you still need to organise all the same stuff, venue, photographer, flowers Etc! I’ve told my friends to just go big when they’re getting married going small doesn’t equal less drama! I think that’s my perfectionist personality though, I’ve just stopped telling ppl any of the details now which mean theres nothing to create drama about!

My fiancé wanted the wedding. We have about 75 people going and that is way too many for me. I begged him to let us elope and I wish every day that we had just gone to Vegas, livestreamed the ceremony from there and thrown a backyard bbq to celebrate when we got home. My advice: elope if you can. I so wish I had. I’m praising the Lord it’s almost over!

We just cancelled our wedding and were eloping. I actually have a thread about that you can dig up. We are thrilled with the decision. It has relieved so much tension and both FI and I are excited about eloping. Before I was just planning and stressing about budget. You need to figure out what’s most important to you, and then decide if you’ll miss the big show or not. For us eloping was the best decision. But, we pissed off all of my in laws with the canceling. Something I didn’t entirely see coming.

katielynnluke:  after we cancelled the wedding we booked a day off work to go to a travel agents to book to go away and elope and then I panicked and knew as much as my family annoy me I want them there on the day. I know I would have been sad on the actual day of it was just us cos my sisters are like my best friends! I’m happier it’s at least a smaller wedding than a big wedding but I still have omg we should have eloped moments! Follow your gut!

katielynnluke:  We considered eloping to Switzerland… after a lot of thought it was important for us to have a hanful of our closest friends and family there. So we opted to have a very small (32 guests) wedding. It is scheduled for September and we couldn’t be happier. Go with your gut. Do what you want. I’ve never met a single person who opted to elope or have a very small intimate wedding who has regretted it!
