If I were you I would see them in person and explain to them what you just explained. If they are as nice as you say they are, they would understand. I received my deposit back when I booked a venue that was over 2 hours away from our hometown (we decided just to have it in our hometown) and the owner completely understood. Being in the business they are in, cancellations have happened to them several times so they undestand. Congrats to you, and I hope it all works out well. Just let them know asap!

Ah don’t you just love the military lol we still dunno where we’re moving. My sister had to change her wedding date because of her dhs deployment and they tried charging her a 1000 dollar fee, I called them up and explained that it was because of the military and they waived the fee.. Most people are understanding and if you do send a basket that would be lovely

@03KM0:  i agree, I feel like people should be lenient when it comes to military, we have no control over it! even if people need proof that’s fine but I def agree with not getting financially punished especially after all we sacrifice!

@03KM0:  oh no! I would DEFINITELY contact your local newspaper/news media outlet and see if they can help you, I know around here they have “7 on your side” and things like that, “Shame shame shame on you!”.  Shows that help the consumer.

I would use the tactic that your FI is serving our country and you can’t help his change of station, and they should support our military and give you guys a break.  A little media pressure (or even the threat of it, I would start by telling them you will be in touch with the media and see what they say) can go a long way.

I never take no for an answer unless I absolutely HAVE to…”Let me speak to your supervisor” will probably be engraved on my headstone when I die but I almost always get my way! Don’t give up, if your deposit is a substantial sum it’s worth fighting for! PM me if you want, I would even help you write a letter or email to them.  Good luck, don’t give up!

Ya, I’d call them & let them know how disappointed you are & that you will be going to the media!
