- Wedding: May 2015 - Aloft Hotel
I’m somewhat active on the boards, and a couple of you may have noticed my endless posts about venue issues. One was too big, another too expensive, another too boring…and after 8/9 months of this both my FI and I are exhausted. In a scary yet relieving conversation, we decided to cancel our 75 person wedding in May in favor of something even smaller this October. We’re just ready to be married! All of our original guest list is still invited, but given the short notice and sorta-destination aspect (everyone would have to travel at least 8 hours), we anticipate pretty much just our immediate families and our best friends will be there when we say our vows, limiting our guest list to 12-15 people.
Right now the plan is to rent out a luxury cabin, have our sunset ceremony in a state park or on a lake, then invite people back to the cabin for grilling out, games, and conversation. The weekend will be filled with horseback riding, wine tasting, and other fun stuff like that. In May his parents are going to host a backyard BBQ for the friends and family who couldn’t make it on such notice to celebrate with us as newlyweds. I am genuinely very happy with our plans, and it seems much more us than a formal wedding anyway, but it’s so hard to scrap all of my ideas and my Pinterest page! So bees who did it small, I would love to see pictures of your day and/or any of your ideas that made your wedding special. Thanks so much!
