I am trying to decide on centerpieces. I was originally thinking of doing some candles as centerpieces to offset the price of flowers (and therefore hopefully saving a couple of bucks). I got the thought in my head of doing rustic lanters as centerpieces with some rose petals scattered around. The prices i have found for any type of lantern that i like is more than i wanted to pay and will pretty much equal that of using flowers. Has anyone come across any DIY cendle themed centerpieces?
I am doing half candles half flowers for our centerpieces. I bought a five pack of candles from Ikea ($6.99), cheapest by far! I bought green chargers from Pottery Barn (50% off) and just grouping them together. I can send you pictures after 10.25!
Here's what we had for ours. My parents were able to buy the holders wholesale which helped on cost. There were five different heights, from about 5 inches tall to about a foot high and we grouped three per table and used some sage grasses from around our house at the base to add a little more. http://www.photoreflect.com/pr3/orderpage.aspx?pi=0ITS00CK000273&po=273
I wasnt' a huge fan of the rocks being put on the sides, but that's how it ended up, so I'll live with it :)
I'm working along the same lines- gotta save where you can. I did see a reference to this website and they have a bunch of lanterns. Not sure exactly what you are looking for but they seem to have a pretty decent price range-- some as low as 3.99. Good luck!

posted by MissSeptember 2 posts 1 month agoHi! I'm using lanterns from Ikea--got them on sale a year ago! Maybe some will be what you can use:
http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/IkeamsSearch?storeId=12&langId=-1&catalogId=11001&searchType=product&pageNumber=-1&orderBy=score&category=%23%7EProducts&query=lantern
I'm using the 11 " sommar--great size for centerpieces. Good luck!
