We are doing candles, but we are not having long tables:
I do think its incredibly romantic. If you're worried about wind then just make sure that you get hurricanes or other glass for the candles to be in. We are indoors so I'm not doing that but I think it would be fine.
Have you also thought about luminaries? They wouldn't go out and are so pretty

Hey hive, so I'm not a flower girl. At all. In fact I am trying to not have any flowers at my wedding period (my mother won't really let me get away with this so we've compromised by having a minimal amount of crysanthemums in little jars on the tables). I would instead just like to have our four long reception tables LITTERED with candles. Our reception will be in the evening in a garden without a tent - we're going for a laid-bakc, romantic, dancing under the star feel.
Has anyone done this before? How did it work?
I'm concerned about all the candles going out should there be a breeze.
Also, is this something a florist could provide? I'm shuddering at the idea of having to buy and then be stuck with hundreds of candles and holders :)
Any thoughts/ideas/annecdotes would be really appreciated!!! Thanks!!!
