Where did you get your candles and for how much? I would really love to have a ‘glowing’ reception, but I feel like candles are crazy expensive (when you stop and realize they just burn away!)
Also, has anyone made their own candles? Is that even significantly cheaper?

Don’t know if IKEA is close to where you are, but IKEA candles are great to buy in bulk – for cheap too! Can’t think of the number off the top of my head – but if you go to their website, you should be able to find prices there.

I was like you… I want the look and the romantic feel of candles but I have to really try and keep the budget in check. I found votives at a local store for $1.20 each, so instead of the massive quantity I wanted for the tables, I got 2 per table. It’ll just have to. They are candles already in the votive glasses so I think that was a good deal. I know Oriental trading company sells candles (not sur ewhich kind you’re looking for) so you can check them out.

I’ve done a bit of googling around and found these: http://www.quickcandles.com/Votive-Candles-White-Unscented-Set-of-288-p/pm_1001_288.htm
I would be okay with that price, but I am not planning on using votives. Anyone have experience with these in mason jars and baby food jars?

@TeaJam: Yup, everyone that I know has bought their candles at Ikea. It’s pretty much the standard for wedding candles.

IKEA is the place to go. That’s where we got our candles. We got some colored square ones, 9 for $3 and some taller white ones at 4 for $2. They are bigger than tea lights so they lasted through our 7 hour reception. You can also try Michaels, their prices are usually good and they ALWAYS have a 20%-50% off coupon you can use.

I went through Candles4less I found them cheaper than quickcandles. They arrived fast, look great. Got candles and holders. Then my finance put them next to the vent…good thing I caught it before they melted hahaa

Try here if you’re really looking for tons of candles. Pretty good deal and they tend to have long burn times http://wholesalecandlewarehouse.com/ They tend to give you a bigger discount when you have an event if you reach out to them.
