Another post triggered this thought in my head which today has been many!! I am and have been in the process of planning my Candy Buffet. I have it down to what candy and colors I am ordering as well as the hunt to collect unique jars and containers to place all of this candy. But my eyes or rather my stomach might be bigger then the other. I was thinking of mixing a dessert table with the candy buffet.

I am using the candy as my favors, but also wanted to include some of our favorite sweets, like brownies, chocolate chip cookies, sugar cookies and gorgeous to die for cupcakes.

We are having 100 people or so. For a late night reception I thought it would be fun for folks to have a good selection and variety especially for my sweet tooth, I would be more drawn to the cupcakes and chocolate related items.

Is this too much stuff? Do you think this is a good idea?

i think it sounds like fun! you might separate the candy for take home and the treats for eating but it sounds great!

I think you are on the right track. We are having a candy buffet as our favors but we are also having a dessert buffet as an addition to the cake. I just wanted more dessert options since there will be 200+ guests and some people just don't eat cake.

A good idea would be to focus also on the size of your favor box/goody bag. A smaller bag will let people think a little more about the amount they'd end up taking, and if you have an assortment, you can use just one type of bag/box for all so people don't think they can fill up on a separate container for each type of sweets. And remember you don't have to do exactly 100 per item.
