Our reception site is kinda "classy" for a lack of better words. It has marble walls and whatnot. I LOOVEEE the idea of the candy bar but my FI doesnt like it too much. what do you guys think, is it not really elegant enough?

Ther are a lot of other bee's on here that have done this! From the pictures I have seen, they can look amazing! Can you find some nice bowls and stuff to put the candy in so it goes with the venue?

He-Double Hockey sticks- yeah! I think you should do it.. We have a really classy reception site too, but arent hesitating to do it because you can make ANYTHING that looks plain, really really fancy... Just spruce it up a little.. plus, that takes away one favor for the guests. ;)

LOVE candy buffets ~ you could totally bring up the class level. I don't know what your theme is ~ but this all white candy buffet looks fancy. I would search for pictures online and show your FI how nice you can make them...

I think it all depends on how it is set up. There are tons of pictures of very classy candy buffets. Coordinating the colors of all of your candy could help in making it look more sophisticated too.

I love the idea of a candy buffet. Why does your FH not want one? He might have another reason entirely for it that you may not have thought of :)

I think you should do a candy bar. Mine at my reception was a huge hit and as the other bees said, it's all about presentation so I think you could make it look really classy still and fit into your decor.

ooohhh...I like the picture that Drealeah posted, very CLASSY!!  you can totally pull it off, but I would do your colorscheme or neutrals and not go crazy with different colors!!

okay thanks guys, i also thought you can pull it off, i bought probaby 15 large glass jars and i was planning on doing monochromatics . I was going to use a few large/tall candle holders on the table as well. I guess when he ssaid he wasnt a big fan i second guessed it myself. I am going to work on him and see what happens :)

Personally, I love the candy buffets - the are a great idea and can be customised to be as classy as you want.  I particularly like the pic of the white one.  Now that one is what I would call classy.  I was not mad about the pink one though.

The candy buffet is a great idea. Dress up the table linens and the decorations to make it "facncier".

We decided against having a candy bar at our wedding, which was at an elite country club.  We figured that it would be too much work, very expensive to do (candy is more expensive than you think) but opted for wedding favors that people would enjoy more.
