@PaisleyMedic:  great question.

First let me start with posting pictures of mine, I think a visual will help a lot.

How many guests did you have?

110

What did you use for your guests to put the candy in (boxes, bags, etc)?

celophane bags

Where did you get the boxes, bags, etc. for the guests?

 Ebay…great place to get things

How big were the containers you displayed the candy in and where did you purchase them?

various sizes as you can see above. The variety makes it more interesting to look at.

Where did you get your scoops/tongs from?

ebay seller

What kinds of candy did you have?

Bulk barn (bulk food store) ,party city , dollar store and ebay

How much of each kind of candy?

Hard to say, I got more of the cheaper candy and less of the more expensive

What were the most popular and least popular candies?

the mini chocolate bars. I got mars bars, cookies and cream bars, and twix (I got those bars mainly because the packaging and fonts on the packaging matched my colour scheme…all my candies had to be in my colour scheme). The chocolate was gone almost as soon as the candy bar opened.

Were you left with a lot of extra, run short, or was it about perfect?

It was perfect, I did have one ziplock bag of some random candies left over (enough for myself to snack on hehe)

Did a lot of people take advantage of the candy bar?

Of course….actually people ate it all night long…most people didn’t even bother using the favour bags.

How much did the candy bar end up costing all together (jars, scoops, candy, favor bags, etc.)?

Not sure…I cannot say as I didn’t do the final cost…but I spent less then $100 in candies..but good news is the glass vases are reuseable or even resellable…so it’s not really money lost!!! So my only money I will spend at the end of the day is for the candy and the bags since everything ca be sold.

In hindsight, would you have done anything differently? Or even skipped it all together?

Nope, the candy bar was a hit! I even took advantage of it at the wedding…
