I was going on uline tonight to order my take out boxes for our candy buffet.... and I didn't know whether to get the 1/2 pint ones or the 1 pint ones.

I have never really seen them at weddings before so I don't know what the normal size is to get.

Are the 1/2 pint too small? Or the pint ones too big? Theres only about $1 price difference so it doesn't matter to me.... just didn't know which ones to get...lol.

I was just out shopping for the very same thing today. I have found that the 1/2 pint (8 ounce) boxes are big enough. If you've ever had Chinese food, it's the half order size. Complimentary rice usually comes in that size box. The full pint boxes are way too big, in my opinion.

Our chinese food actaully doesn't come in these boxes! Funny thing hey? Must be a thing here in Canada...or maybe the province I'm in.

Thats why I had no idea which ones to get....lol.

I was looking at the 1/2 pint today at Micheals just to size them up and I am gonna get those. I have extra cellophane bags from the dollar store that I will put out just incase of leftovers that people can take.

Its funny being Canadian on most of the wedding boards...like when you said 8 ounces I automatically thought of 250 ml. Us funny Canucks...lol.

    Thanks for your help!

I will probably order mine from Oriental Trading. They have frosted plastic takeout boxes--adorable!

1/2 pint is 8oz or 1cup. Grab a measuring cup from your kitchen to see how much that is. I think that's a good size. I've seen them at the local smart & final but haven't been back to find the price again. I think they had 3 sizes. Uline looked like a pretty good deal, but I think Smart&Final was cheaper. Uline has colored boxes if you're going for those. Smart&Final has just the white. They are called oyster pails. I'm watching Food network and they are talking about them and chinesefood. They came about when the oyster market started to cut back on buisness and they had to find another use for the boxes. I'm still trying to figure out if I want to use the oyster pails or make some wax paper bags.

Papermart has tons of these boxes at insanely cheap prices! And the half pint is the perfect size.

You can get FIFTY 1/2 pint boxes of the white ones for $4.73!!! Wrap a ribbon around that puppy and it will be cute as can be!
