We're doing a candy buffet and apparently no one in my family has heard of such a thing. I've come up with several ideas to make sure people don't miss it.
1. The thing that I want us to do is little ferrero rocher candies with a card sticking out of them saying "Thank you for making our day sweeter! Please stop by the candy buffet and let us return the favor!". They will be set at the place settings. They'll look a little like these from Mrs. Dumpling.
2. Or I was going to fill up little spice jars from IKEA (4 for $3) with jelly beans and a little tag saying to stop by the candy buffet and set them at the place settings.
3. OR you could make a little sticker asking guests to stop by the candy buffet, stick it on the take-out boxes and use those at place settings.
4. Additionally if you're having an MC/DJ you could ask him to mention it.
Since we're doing little candys at every seat our containers will be on our candy buffet.
Ooo, I like that! If they were at the place settings then I could make sure everyone saw the notes, as well. And....(hyperventilating with delight,) maybe I could find containers in my beloved damask so they could be part of the place settings...
brena80, so funny that you posted about miss dumpling's placecards cuz we are doing the same type of thing and I JUST finished posting about it on our blog! http://sohappyberries.blogspot.com/
the DJ will be announcing the candy buffet at our wedding. but i think the place card announcement is a very cute idea as well!

So I have two questions about the candy table...
One - where do you put the containers? I am having some larger items like candy apples so instead of paper bags I want to do chinese take-out style paper boxes. Assuming I will need over 100 boxes, though, were do you put them so that they look cute and not messy?
Also, strange as it may sound, I don't think most people at this wedding will have seen a candy buffet before and know right off that they are supposed to fill up a box as their favor. I'd like to set out a little poem that basically says "Thanks for coming, please pick up a container and fill it with candy to take home" but, you know, more poetically!
Any thoughts?
