So long story short I live in college town and love our townie bar and this kid at the bar Friday night noticed my work sweatshirt and sparked a convo that he is trying to get a summer internship so my FI (same field bigger company) gave him is email and said he would forward along his resume. Nice right? talked for an hour or so and left.
Saturday night we swung in for 1 because we were freezing on our walk home, and there this kid is say hi order a drink. we are there for no more than 10mins Kid and looks at us and says “Can I come to your wedding?” WHAT NO! I seriously was floored I said no we met you last night? he was like O I just assumed you invited everyone to weddings? my FI couldn’t even come up with words he was so floored
He’s 21 shouldn’t he know better? Is this generation in college now really that nieve? I’m only 5 years older than him and I would never ask that. What do you ladies think?

wanabeabee: Some communities have church weddings that everyone really is invited to – you don’t even send out invitations to the wedding, it’s in the church bulletin and everyone who wants to come can come. It’s more common in small towns.
That’s not at all what my community does so it isn’t what I did, but it is what my mom grew up with so some people probably do expect that style of wedding.

Meh he’s just trying to be provocative. Last weekend I had the same thing happen-an 18 year old acquaintance (my friend’s step-brother’s friend…yeah) kept making a big deal about how we didn’t invite him to our wedding in December. Even though I know not to take it seriously, it’s still awkward.

Some people just have no clue what goes into weddings.

My step daughter to be asked if all her friends can come! Off course we said no. Upon talking to her further, she thought it was just a big party where everyone comes to celebrate. They had no idea how much we have to pay per person. She had only been to one other wedding before when she was 5. Lol. Some just don’t know.

A 21 year old guy in college is likely to have no clue about what goes into planning a wedding and the cost involved. He probably has the mindset that its a big fancy party that you can invite anyone to. He’s young. He’ll live and learn.

I don’t think I had a clue when I was 21 either. I wouldn’t be so shocked.
