Hey Babgrlshell!
You helped me a little while ago in the search for Dj's in St. Augustine- and wow it is a challenge for that area!
The guy at one voice wanted like $1200!! and were just having a small cocktail reception. and i didn't ask for any extras.
But here are a couple of numbers that people have used these two dj's and had a good response and i think they are both under $600
Ed at djstogo@comcast.net 904-221-1818
and Justin 904-449-4786
I spoke to both of them- they were both knowledgable-and personable.
Good luck my fellow st. augustine bride!
Hey baba - honestly I work a lot on gut feelings. when I saw my dress I knew, my hall - I knew, the DJ - I knew.
I think that if you over think this one you won't be able to get one at all and that's not what you want.
All in all they have to play music, make an announcemment and as long as the contract is tight and they have back up equipment at the ready for any unforseen issues - your A+!
oh dear beesknees- the guy at one voice quoted me 695!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! whats up with that!?!?!?!?!?
Which DJ did you end up going with?
Sweeney- you know I've been oh so decisive when it comes to everything- including the dress... boo. Dude it took me 4 months to decide where to hold the reception. We just found an officiant!
The DJ we are meeting today charges $1500, but he speaks spanish, english and vietnamese (which we need!). The other dj quotes me $1K, but speaks tagolog and english. I would need to get a translator or two. We will probably go with the expensive one (he knows his worth!), it will save us the headache of having to look for translators(spanish & viet).
I'm a full time student and work part time too... its way hard to stay focused.... what I did about the DJ thing?
Told my fiance ot take care of it.... he's the music guru

Okay ya'll I am again in need of your wisdom!
I am like two months from the wedding and I can't commit to a DJ. We interviewed one last week that we liked, but he was the first one. Seems very professional, willing to include my little things in the contract (no posters or advertising of any kind), licensed & insured, etc. A little more than budgeted, but I'm on a supa-dupa tight budget, so I figure anyone decent is going to be above budget.
I put an ad on myspace, facebook and craigslist to see if anyone can provide what we need for a set price, which btw was very cheap/low but I got a few responses for that price and some quotes for a little more than my proposed price, but you know, I can't knock them for trying and sending an RFP anyhow.
I know I'm cutting it REALLY close... I'm also in grad school and taking 21 credit hours and am starting to neglect my school stuff for wedding stuff and I'm thinking, shouldn't I be on the home stretch by now??? I should have EVERYTHING DONE!!!!!! GOSH!
Should I interview a few more DJs before I commit?
