GOOD LUCK!!! ALL FINGERS & TOES CROSSED!!!
I'm so excited for your SO to see his dreams come true. This is amazing for you both :)
That is really cool! I will say a prayer for both of you tonight. How exciting!
Thank you ladies!
He is acting so calm and nonchalant about it but I can tell he is bursting with excitement inside.
That's great! My FI works for minor league baseball as an umpire, so I can definitely relate in your excitement!
That is SO SO cool :) FINGERS CROSSED and congrats for your SO making it that far! What an accomplishment!!!
Thanks again for all your sweet words!
@Lindsay12.31.2010: that's really cool that he is an umpire! Did he used to play?
That's awesome! Hope Friday goes well. Tell him to come play for our Phillies!!! :)
BAHHHH!!! That's awesome! I am a huge A's fan by the way so if he gets to the majors I will root like crazy for him!! That is AWESOME!
@babyboo - Yes, he did play in high school and college, but that was it.
@Jenn23: I was going to say the same thing! The Phillies have a great farm system also...
So excited for you both! Looking forward to the good news update!
@Jenn23: @rachaelrobin: haha too bad i'm a west coast girl and would not want to move! but at this point i'll take any team ;)
Ok so I wanted to update all day but my poor MacBook had to go to the doctor!
The try-out went amazing!! He said it was basically a workout session (lifting, running, etc.) with some baseball drills thrown in. The scouts told all the guys that they are looking to replace one of their new recruits because he is injured and can no longer play.
He gets a call in a week or two saying if he got it or not. Still crossing my fingers :D
@Babyboo I'm sure the next week or two (waiting) is going to feel like forever for both of you! I hope it goes quickly and he gets good news!!! I don't blame you for wanted to stay there. I know people who live in CA and love it! Weather is definately better there than here! lol
yeah! it went well. woohoo!! that is so cool. Hopefully everything will go his way. good luck!

A little preface before I get to the big news:
BF played varsity baseball for 4 years in high school (02-06) and was on his way to playing in at a great school/getting drafted. End of Junior year he injured his ankle. His choice was to sit out his senior year and get surgery or play on it and risk permanently injuring it. Being a typical teenage boy he didn't think about his future and decided to play his senior year. Luckily he didn't injure it permanently, however all scholarship offers were taken away because he was too much of a risk.
Luckily a local school took him and he played his freshman year of college. He eventually got tired of playing and decided to finally get his much needed ankle surgery. Two years later he was miserable without baseball and tried getting back on the school team (Fall 09). Unfortunately during a practice he tore his achilles tendon and has been rehabing it for the last 9 months or so, which meant no more baseball.
Well this summer he went out for an MLB tryout and talked to one of the scouts who took his number. Yesterday I was at Disneyland with a few coworkers and I got a text sayng
"The scout just called me and wants me to come work out with some guys on Friday!!"
OMG I almost screamed! The scout is for the Oakland A's which is a really good farm team (meaning: they train really good players in the minors to move up to the majors).
Cross your fingers Friday goes well! If everything goes well he might be getting an MLB contract, or at least a minor league one
.
(And this is way longer than I meant for it to be...)
