Hi! So all along, I’ve wanted a rustic type country wedding, somewhere with a barn and mason jars and all the country get up you can thinif of.. However now with actually tryig to PLAN a wedding I’ve realized it’s really expensive! I know some people have more money than others but even 5,000 seems expensive to me for a wedding!! One thing that really gets me is food cost… Your going to pay 10$ and up for someone to eat who will probably complain about the food!! So,now I have thought of other options such as beach weddings and then taking the extra money on a honeymoon or a house!? The only issue I have with this is that I’ve always envisioned a lot of people watching me walk down the isle and I want the traditional first dance and cake cutting, ect… Does anyone know some way to incorporate this all? Also has anyone had the same big weddig dream as me but decided to do a small wedding instead?! I just don’t want to regret either decision! Thanks!!

Perhaps you need to wait and save more for your dream wedding if it is that important. I personally understand the stress of staying within budget though I’m lucky enough to have someone else paying for it all. the very least in catering we could find for our wedding was 7k but thats still within my budget. Perhaps instead of a caterer you talk to family members who would be willing to help you with food. Also what is important to you? My aunt is making us our cake because I don’t have a huge vision of a wedding cake and it cuts cost. Craigslist, ebay, goodwill, and other thrifty spots are great. There are even brides selling thier stuff on this site for good prices. Evaluate what you really want and spend the money on that. Cut cost on the things that are not important. Also what about an Ipod DJ? perhaps a cousin or close friend can run an ipod in which you load all the songs for your wedding. This could cut cost and allow you to have something important to you.

You can have a beautiful wedding without the big cost for sure. It just involves a little creativity.
There are plenty of ladies on these boards planning weddings for 100 people for less than $2,000, heck some are even planning for $1000, it is doable. Take a look at what YOU need for the wedding before you get sucked in to to corporate wedding trap. do you NEED a fancy dining hall or would you have just as much fun at a park, a zoo, a museum or some other place that might be cheaper still? Do you need a fancy plated meal or will a family catered buffet be okay with your plans? Do you NEED hudreds of dollars of flowers? or can you make your bouquet or have someone help you arrange wild flowers the day before? There are plenty of ways to cut costs.
