I think it depends on the season, the darker colors would be good in the Fall and Winter, the lighter colors for summer and Spring.
Ok, I see your date is in Oct. Then, I'd do the dark red. ;)
I really like the dark bouquet with the ivory wedding gown. That is really beautifully dramatic, I just wonder if similar bouquets with chocolate brown BM dresses would be too dark? IDK?
That first pic was one of my bouquets inspiration pics! I'm doing that bouquet (with the curly fern and feathers) in black magic roses and karma chocolate dahlias.
I'm biased.... but I voted dark red.
Well, then, if its too dark why not have the bride use the dark red and the BM's do the blush pink and ivory. Who says you can't have it all?
I guess I was just thinking that those 2 colour schemes were so starkly different that it would clash...and I wouldn't be sure which theme to use in the rest of the decorating/guys tux accents, etc etc...dramatic vs soft...I am obviously really bad at this creativity/vision thing! :)
I actually gave the same picture of the red and purple bouquet to my florist for my wedding. I love it!
I'm with evalaque on this one. You carry a dark bouquet and the brides can carry a small, lighter one. Yay! Both!
@lisalew and @evalaque - If I went that route should I keep with the darker, fall colour scheme and just add in some lighter coloured flowers (like burnt orange and some wheat stalks) into the girls bouquets?
Or would it really look okay to have dark red for mine and the light pastels for the girls?
Or do you think that the darker colours would show up okay against the chocolate brown dresses?
I really just want to figure out what is going to look best...I'm not sure that I really have a preference about either colour scheme...but this is obviously one of those details I'm obsessing about...probably mostly because it affects the rest of the decorating/ambiance of the evening. Argh!!! :)
I think for a fall wedding the red fits in better and is a gorgeous color combo! If it wasn't in the fall? I'd prefer the lighter pink
I would vote for a mix - I think the two could look great together! Those dusty pink roses with the dark callas :)
I've seen "mixed" bouquets (all light with a few dark flowers or vice versa), and to tell you truth - ick; I didn't care for it. I say stick with a more monochrome color family (dark for you, light for the girls).
Since pink isn't really a fall color, how about this: stay in the brown color family and use ivory (the shade of your dress) instead of pink roses for your maids.
What colors are you trying to emphasize? So far I see ivory/chocolate/red.
Here's a little something I found from favorideas.com:
Finally, autumn offers an opportunity to experiment with creative and woodsy bouquet choices, including seed pods, hypericum berries, ryegrass and bittersweet vines. Some of the most charming (if unconventional) bouquets and boutonniéres use copper wire to gorgeous effect.

My wedding was in fall and my MOH wore brown! I will try and find a pic of her bouquet for you...

Thanks so much! I'd love to see as many pics of BMs in brown dresses and their flowers as I can...still undecided about what I should do, so any inspiration is greatly appreciated! :)
I vote pink and ivory. very classic and timeless. also will look stunning next to the brown dresses
Both are really beautiful, but I went with pink and ivory. I think it would be wonderful with brown dresses. Really though, I don't think you could go wrong either way.
Hmmm... I'm torn. I really like the pink/ivory bouquet and think it would be beautiful against all the browns. I'm afraid the reds will get lost. But I also see why folks would think that pink is more of a spring/summer color.
Personally, I love the idea of mixing. I understand that it's not everyone's taste, but it can be really well done; I'm mixing red and white for my bouquet. Maybe you could go to a craft store and play with some colors together to see what you like best. At the end of the day, that's all that really matters.
Good luck and be sure to post pics of your bouquet!

My dress is an ivory lace trumpet gown. The girls dresses are chocolate chiffon, with a champagne underlay. The guys are in chocolate brown tuxes.
Should we go with the stunning, old-Hollywood glamour look of dark red (roses, calla lillies etc)?
or a beautifully soft combination of barely-there pinks and ivory?
