- Wedding: July 2013
Trying to come up with ideas for favors for our wedding, and it’s tough! Our ceremony will take place in the woods, and the whole wedding will have a rustic woodsy theme throughout. I had thought of doing saplings: they’re eco-friendly, adorable, and fit perfectly with the theme. BUT.. they require the guests to do work to plant them. And I doubt anyone will do that. (but aren’t they CUTE?!)
So, we thought about something coffee-related, since FI and I both LOVE coffee. Coffee beans in a cute bag with “Perfect Blend” on it (I LOVE puns!). Cute, relevant to us, and totally useful (if you like coffee)!
OR, little mini mug (espresso cup) + biscotti (our venue has a bakery that makes AMAZING biscotti in all flavors – my favorite is s’mores biscotti, YUM!) + coffee beans… like this:
But then worried about… what about guests who DON’T like coffee (Difficult to imagine, I know, but we gotta plan for the unexpected!)? What about a drink cozy? Relates to us and our coffee obsession, but useful for EVERYONE, whether they like coffee, tea, cider, or just hot cocoa!
Then I learned about the FAVOR TABLE my venue offers…
A pretty decorated table with four stands on it (like glass cake-stands), each with an example of one of four different favors on it. It will be on display all reception, and as guests leave, they get to choose which of the four favors they would like, and there is a white-gloved service to hand them out individually (to make sure people don’t take more than they are supposed to).
Usually, couples choose a “confection” (i.e. chocolate-covered strawberries, candy apples, candy, etc), a “baked good” (i.e. cookies, mini pies, etc.), something “floral” (i.e. mini potted flower, bud vase with a flower, bulbs, etc), and a “keepsake” (i.e. candle, keychain, photo frame, etc). This allows for variety, and everyone can get something they like (or at least will be more likely to keep/use!).
I liked the idea, and told them about our coffee obsession… she said they do TONS of coffee-related things, and I could choose any four. Off the top of her head, she listed: chocolate-covered espresso beans, espresso fudge brownies, biscotti, travel mug, coffee mug, drink cozy, coffee beans, coffee-scented candles… and more!
So, my question(s):
Favor Table – yes or no? PROS: variety!, pretty presentation, classy (white-glove service!), no favors on tables to get in the way/crowd the table, people will be less likely to forget/leave behind favors, good price. CONS: per couple, not individual, so I don’t know if people would feel gypped?
IF NO Favor Table, which would you prefer? (1) cute espresso cups with beans and biscotti – every COUPLE would get one (because they’d be a lot more expensive), or (2) coffee beans in a cute burlap bag – EVERY guest would get one!, or (3) cozy and a mug, so even non coffee-lovers could enjoy – EVERY guest would get one!
What do you think? 🙂
