Well hello ladies, I am a lucky gal who is getting to choose her own ring, and boy am I excited! However, I am torn betwixt two lovely choices and need your help! I'm just going to toss some pictures and a little poll on here and hopefully you bees will bring me some clarity! I love both of these rings for different reasons ie: the first is very simple and clean and the second is very blingy! SIGH! I just CAN'T decide!

These are very different rings! I think it's hard for someone to judge them objectively because a person tends to either like one style or the other. Personally I am not into really big blingy jewelry, so I am put off by the second one, but someone who is into that style could really rock it. It will be hard for us to tell you which one to go with. Maybe a simple clean ring for your e-ring and then you could ask for the blingy one for a future anniversary present for your right hand?

I love bling, but I voted for the first one. Yu can always step up the second one with a great enhancer as your wedding band.

Thanks for your input Birds! I know it is such an objective thing... normally I go for the first type of ring, but then sometimes I get sparkle fever!  :)

I voted for #1 but I think that its really a matter of preference. For what it is worth, this is why I like the first better:

1- I feel that halo style often takes away from the diamond it is surrounding

2- I think that the halo style can make the center diamond look smaller (i know a lot of people say the exact opposite so its really a matter of opinion... but i guess i assume if something is halo it is TRYING to look bigger than it is so i feel like its smaller)

3- i think #1 is just more classic. thats a ring that is still going to be in style in 40 years.

Thanks @Corgi. I think I am slowly coming back from sparkle fever haha. The first ring is the one I first fell in love with and I agree about it being classic, which is more my style. Whew. Thanks for bringing me back from my temporary craziness! (not that ring #2 isn't pretty)

What about #1 with 2 contoured skinny diamond bands? You can get a little extra bling but still hold onto the 3 main stones of the first e-ring?

I dunno, i like them both...leaning towards #2 b/c i like more flair in general and shy away from classic styles personally.

@ejs I really like your idea of the contoured bands, though I was originally going to forgo a band.

Normally I live by the motto "the more bling the better." However, I am leaning more towards the first one because I think it shows off the stones better and it actually looks more "blingy" to me. The second one has so many stones and so much metal that I think it loses some of that bling factor and everything gets lost.

Are you getting diamonds or moissanite? You would get a TON of fire from #2 if it was set with moiss! (This is what I mean by fire; the rainbow flashes on that big moissanite ring)

Personally, I dislike the look of plain white metal, it seems very cold and industrial, so my preference would be #2.

I am still on the fence about moissanite, but I have done LOTS of research on it and am strongly considering it! I have even gone out and compared them to diamonds in person and I was thrilled with the result. I think I am leaning more towards the first choice mostly because I can jazz it up later. I have small hands and I don't think too much of the bare metal will show...

I have an enegagement ring similiar to the first one and for the bling effect, I picked a beautiful band. While the second ring is beautiful, those diamonds can be extremely hard to clean.

My ring has tons of little diamonds on the band, similar to the second band... I don't even wear it half the time out of fear of losing the stones. Not to mention it gets really dirty, really fast. I've also gotten tons of comments about whether or not the ring is real, etc because of the amount of bling.

Anyway, I voted for the first ring. It's more classically beautiful... Also I have major ring envy when it comes to the "cleaner" cuts vs a diamond explosion.

I'm sorry I don't have any pictures on my computer but here are some pictures that were used to design my ring and band.

My band is being made but here is my engagement ring (this is the picture that they used to make the mold) and a picture of the band I chose.

This is my engagement ring. And here is the band I chose.

My band is a 7 stone princess cut in this setting (shared prong). They are making it cuved so it fits my ring.

I can't wait to have it!

Lol that is pretty true, however, now that my man sort of knows my criteria, when we are looking and he sees something that he now perceives not to be pretty his brow furrows all adorable-like and he gives me advice. It is TOO cute for words!

Besides the fact that its my personal prefernce I think that #1 is more classic and timeless. The second ring is very "in" right now - as in that style/cut will go out of style in a matter of time. The first ring is more of a ring that you could eventually pass down to another family member and it will always be beautiful!

@roxy- were date twins and our rings are SO similar!!! Here is a picture of mine...

I like the first one- I personally am not a huge fan of the antique style rings, they seem to make diamonds look dingier and not as radiant as gals would like their rings to be, don't get me wrong there are some pretty ones out there, just not for me I guess.  And halo rings seem to be all over the place- which is another reason I'm not that fond of this one, they;re not as unique and i feel like they try to make rings look waay bigger than they are but kind of over do it and sometimes make them look cheap and more like costume jewlery.

I like the clean lines of the first one and how slick the band looks compared to being covered in multiple small stones, I think it's worth it to have less stones, then you can have larger ones and looks classier

First attraction is the 2nd because it looks more blingy! But at 2nd glance I would go with the first; less busy!

I voted for number two, but that is because i love halo style rings... Although I prefer the single halo over a three ring halo... I think #2 would be a great cocktail ring...  But I like the antique-ey IDEA of #2 better than the traditional clean cut #1 personally.

But both are beautiful :)  congrats!

@toaster, YES I love my ring!!!!  sometimes I wish I went with something a LITTLE more blingy, but I know that my ring is timeless and simple.   Busy & ornate rings work for some people, but they're just not for me.

and btw- If you look on the Tiffany site you can put that exact ring against a plain wedding band, and a band with diamonds.

idk if this link will work..

I love the second ring, however, I think it might be difficult to find a band to go with it. I picked out my e-ring with my fiance and went immediately for looks and didn't even think about a band. It was very difficult for me to finally find something to go with it!!  Before you make a decision, just consider what band options you'll have!

Both rings are gorgeous, but I prefer #1.

Although I may be biased because my e-ring is very similar and I couldn't be happier. I love it's timeless elegance, and I really think that this style showcases the stones well.

I prefer the classic look to the halo style personally. I think the halos are beautiful when you are looking at them, but when I see them on they appear to shorten the finger. This might not be a problem if you have long or lanky fingers, but for someone like me who gets comments like "Aww you have baby hands!", it might be more flattering to choose cleaner lines to create an illusion of a longer finger :)

    @ CORGI!

YESS!! Whew! Oh gosh it was just so nice to see that someone shares my exact opinion on halos. I do think that some halo designs are lovely, however, I just know they are going to look dated in a short amount of time. And everything that they are meant to do -- enhance and make the stone appear larger -- I feel that they do not accomplish, but rather do the opposite, just as you said. So as for this post, yes, I vote #1.

We are clearly in the minority, however, because the halo trend is H.U.G.E.

(And I think it goes without saying that I think your ring is fab, btw. :)

Although both are beautiful rings, I voted for #1.  It is a timeless and classic design, I love the pear-shaped side stones on this ring (so delicate & feminine).  It will also be easier to find a wedding band that can match and/or fit flush against it.  Both are fantastic!  Have fun making your choice!
