I think orange might be a hard colour to get your BM's on board with regardless. I know my cousin who had "mango" coloured dresses got a couple of comments about the colour. It was an awesome colour, just not what people expect. Go with the colour you like best.
It looks like David's has 3 orangish colours -terracotta, cognac, and persimmon...oh and I guess tangerine.
I think the cognac looks burnt orange to me, but it doesn't sound like its what you want. Plus, they'll be SO different on the computer screen than they really are, so you should really go look at a dress/swatch in the store. Maybe take a trip there and hopefully it will help sort out what colour is your fave.
I like that Alfred Angelo dress. I don't think a price under 175 is too bad for a floor lenght dress. Is it possible that the dress from David's Bridal that you were looking at comes in a limited amount of colors? I know some come in all 42 while others are quite limited... Maybe there is another style that comes in a closer color.
@kermie:So it does look a little like orange. The second dress is in the color of cognac.I didnt see the terracotta.I have to look that up now at their website.
What color bouquets do you think they will have? If your BMs are holding orange flowers, they will pop much more against a brown dress.
@bijou214: that would be gorgeous!
Orange is a VERY hard color to wear well! It doesn't agree with a lot of skin tones (or at least, it really seems to disagree with mine!).
I suggest going with the brown and accenting with orange.
What does your MOH think of the first colour?
My suggestion is --if your MOH is on board for the orange-- have her wear the first colour of orange, if that is your pick, with a brown sash and have the other girls wear brown with the orange sash to tie it all together. That way the orange is a major theme, and seen as an important colour as the MOH's dress, but the other girls don't freak out about it. Also think about having your flower girl wear the orange with a brown sash and the ring bearer wear an orange vest with a brown tie. It would be a great theme and would be super chic, I think.
I had a sorority sister put me in an orange dress once, (our university's colours are orange and white) and it looked horrid on me as a ginger gal. But I didn't complain one bit cause it wasn't about me. Complaining about the bride's choices in her wedding is self absorbed and disrespectful. That is why I am not having any. :)
I like the Alfred Angelo dress but it's not orange to me. I agree with the PP that said orange flowers would pop against brown.
@Earlybride: I think I am biased towards that dress because the one I picked out from DB looks like a short one of that. : ) I think what a PP said about having orange flowers against the brown dress would look really nice. Pops of color always make for lovely photos.
I thinkt he middle picture you posted from DB looks like it has more of an orange tint than the AA one. so if that is the color you are going for I would go with that.
@MissTatas:Yeah I think Im going to do the brown with the (orange)tangerine sash and orange flowers. That would pop!
@bijou214:The most prominant color in the bouquets will be orange,so it would be a good idea to go with brown.Im gonna go back and get swatches of all the dark browns.

Bees,
I thought I was sure what I wanted for my colors for the bridesmaid dresses.Originally I was gonna look for a dark orange. The place I wanted to go to was Davids Bridal.Thought that they will be cheaper for all invloved. Some bridesmaids are out of jobs right now.Anyway the only color that came close to orange was this.
No problem at first. Then I went to a outing with my FI's family and lets just say that the females didnt like the color at all.I told them its the only one I found at Davids Bridal.
Then my future MIL suggested burnt orange instead.I asked Davids Bridal if they have it.They said the nearest color is this one.
I asked myself does that look like burnt orange.I was trying to imagine it.I thought no so I gave up and decided to stick with my other color brown.
And then maybe with a tangerine sash around the waist or something. But Im still thinking I really do want the orange in my wedding party!!I dont care if its not a bright one or not.So I decided to check out other stores.Just to see what might be out there. What Prices. Are they reasonable??U know that kind of thing. So I found this burnt orange dress online at Alfred Angelo.
Ugh..for some reason it wont let me copy and paste this last pic,but heres the link.

Plus it says that dress is under 175!!Thats not bad is it?
Anyway, does the burnt orange from Davids bridal look like the burnt orange from Alfred Angelo??Is the color from Davids bridal come at all close to the color of burnt orange. It is a fall wedding in case that makes a diff in anything.SHould I go with the brown with the tangerine sash instead or what? There are so many opinions out there that Im soo confused right now.Its weird,I want to also stick with brown because I feel like its still my decision, unlike the burnt orange because my MIL suggested it.But thats my pride right?Out of these dresses, which one makes sense??Please help bees!!
