When I met with a potential photographer, they actually had a binder with all (at least I think it was all) of the reviews that they had clients fill out. You might straight up ask the photographer if he has something similar or if he has references of clients you can speak with. I read through a lot of the potential photographer’s reviews from the binder, they definitely pointed out their strengths and weaknesses.

@Rock Hugger: I wish I had the answer but I am wondering the same thing! 🙂 I googled one I’m looking at came up with nada. I guess you could look at it as no news is good news. Did he have a lot of wedding albums to look at on his site? I am somewhat going with the fact that the one I’m interested in has sone a fair share and I figured if she truly sucked SOMEBODY would post something 🙂

I hope you find what you’re looking for and can be confident in booking him, great that you found someone you love and can afford!

If he’s advertising on craigslist there is a very good chance he is a newer photographer. Also, not every client writes a review. I personally don’t like asking clients to leave reviews. Plus, it is possible for buisnesses to pose as customers and write their own reviews.

Just make sure you have a contract that protects both of you in the case of a no show or something else going wrong and view a full finished gallery of his wedding work.

My Photographer isn’t well known, nor does he have any reviews I could find. I have spoken with him several times, see loads of his work, and he did FI’s graduation pics. Plus he’s a customer of ours too. I went on gut feeling and it worked out perfectly. Plus He’s really inexpensive too.

It sounds like you did your research and have all the tools to make the best decision. I hope it works out well.

To see if your photographer is a registered business, check your Department of State, corporation division. You can search by personal name, company name, registered name, LLC, Inc, Fictitious name…. good luck.

No reviews are better than bad reviews, just be careful Cool
