Can't I just go pick some flowers?

    Has anyone heard of anyone (or done it yourself) just going somewhere, greenhouse, garden whatever the day before and just picking flowers and carrying a handpicked bouquet?

    Do I have to carry prearranged precut store bought flowers?  I like the idea of just walking around a flower market and picking out whatever looks pretty that day.

    @Miss Biner:

    Sure!  We went to a farm to pick out flowers ahead of time, so we could pick the colors we wanted because there were so many colors to choose from. Then we went back to pick them up a couple of days before the wedding.  But we also went to Costco and picked up some "greens" and we could have chosen some flowers in the store to choose from.  It all depends on if you want a specific kind/color of flowers if you will need to choose them ahead of time. Otherwise, go ahead and gather whatever is "local" the day or so before, or on your wedding day.  It's really up to you!

    I think that would be lovely :-). I bought my flowers ahead of time and arranged them myself, but I think a less formal bouquet would be really pretty

    Why not? If you want to do it then go for it! If my flowers hadn't come out the way I hoped then that was my backup plan :)

    One of my favorite filler flowers, Queen Anne Lace, can be found in an open field. I actually pick some near the highway by my house! :)

    Just make sure if you do that you clean them properly and disinfect them.Can't I just go pick some flowers? : wedding Frolic+queen+annes+lace+wedding+tablescape+1

    You definitely can, if you are not picky about flower type, and you will have time. I know that tracking down flowers the morning of my wedding is the last thing I want to do (and my ceremony isn't till 6). But, I can also see that being a relaxing, fun thing. Just do what you want! :-)

    You totally can! If you're even considering it, you're probably not super type A about a "done up" look to the bouquet or having super specific flowers in which case why not? I like the element of surprise and going with the flow that day for sure- I fantasize about doing this with Bougeanvilla (sp?) myself - it grows all around my neighborhood and is so pretty!

    You can, but you might want to do some investigating as to what kind of flowers and colors are available on your date.

    We got some aisle flowers from a seller at the farmers market. We ended up making a bouquet for my last minute bridesmaid. It looked great! Slightly different from the ones from the florist, but amazing. I could have done all my flowers through her and it would have been fine. I would find a nice local gardener though since they can plant extra of certain colors in advance and will keep you posted on what's still in bloom. Can you see the "extra" bouquet in the photos?

    My friend got married the end of June, and she went to the Farmer's Market a couple days before with her sister, and chose all of her flowers. Then the night before the wedding, her and her bridesmaids put together all of the bouquets, corsages and bouts for everyone! They looked really nice

    Totally doable!  My family used to have a garden business, and brides used to special order enormous amounts of cut flowers that they would then arrange themselves. We did SO many of those orders!

    Awesome!  I'm glad to hear all the positive reviews.  I really think it'd be a fun relaxing project.  And I'm super low key...I doubt we'll have 'colors' picked out, so whatever is blooming should work.  :D

    I'm thinking about it! The bouquets at our local florist are $200! WTF? And that's apparently normal! They look exactly like the ones sold in grocery stores except it had a gross-looking plastic bouquet holder on it.

    I ordered my flowers (because we don't have a local flower market) but I just bunched some together after our rehersal dinner. I think if you don't really care then's it's cool. I just knew what kind I wanted but I didn't really worry about them being "arranged" perfectly.

    My bouquet:
