So… I am 100% DIYing my hair and makeup.
Makeup I pretty much have in the bag — I’m no artist but I know what looks nice on me and what I’d like to look like and how to do it.
Hair, however… I’ve been doing some trials during my vacation time, mostly out of boredom, and getting some serious disasters. I don’t DO hair. I wash it, I comb it, heck I don’t really even blow dry, I occasionally put a little hair moisturizy stuff on it and flatiron belligerent parts, but not that often.
My hair is short (about jaw length), straight, dyed red, with cute straight-across bangs… and pretty much styles itself into a straight, chill A-line bob if I don’t do anything to it. I wear it like that every day and am pretty happy with how it looks. I wear it that way for everything because I have no idea how else to wear it.
The experiments have been with curling it, and I’ve had little luck making it look like anything but a bird’s nest, and not even one of those sexy, high fashion bird’s nests. Even if I succeed once or twice, will I be able to ensure replicating it with a shaky, wedding-nervous hand?
If I glam it up with my makeup and adorn my hair with stuff, is that enough to allow me just wearing it more or less the same as usual?
Alternately, any suggestions for styles for short, thin hair that are so easy a paralyzed monkey with brain damage could do it?

Sounds to me like it’s stylish and pretty all on it’s own. I bet with all the glamour of special make up and wedding dress/jewelry, you’ll look just perfect as you are. Plus, it will be one less thing to stress about on the big day!!

Also I am not above getting a pixie cut (AGAIN) just to put paid to this issue. It’s not out of the question. (I even asked FH what he thought about that and as he has kind of a short hair… fetish? IDK… he said it would be cool. He really shouldn’t tempt me like that.)

I’d just wear it the same as usual with a pretty headband or barrette or something. I’m not a hair person either so I understand your frustration.

I was wondering the exact same thing. I spend a lot of time, money and effort trying to get my frizzy, insane mop of hair straight and sleek (I even use chemical relaxing agents… you can do nothing with it otherwise). Suddenly, it’s my wedding… and you want me to put it in curls, or do a half updo? Does… not… compute…

I would try to do something a tiny bit different. Maybe using cute clips or something. Google “bob wedding hairstyles”. There were alot of cute ideas that came up!
Do you have a hair straigtener? Like pro quality? That is the best way to curl your hair…you can google how to do that as well.

Your hair sounds so cute! I think it would be great as it usually is, maybe with a bit of bling. And i think a pixie cut with a headband would be absolutely adorable for a wedding.
I’ve been growing my hair for a year or so and its to my shoulders but i keep thinking about cutting it short again, in which case it would be regular everyday hair for my wedding. I’ve had a kind of bob, but longer in the front and short in the back.

I love having short hair.
One thing to try that’s really simple…
Get some mouse and hair gel. After you wash your hair and are still in the shower comb the gel through your hair. Towel dry and keep it in the towel for 20-30 minutes. When you let it out scrunch it with a little mouse and it gives like a sexy out of bed look. My fiance goes crazy when I do my hair like this and straighten the bangs. I don’t want to tire the look so I only do it when we are going out and he loves it. It’s easy and the messier the better 🙂

I’m a hairstylist and honestly the bangs, jawline length, and color sounds fashionable enough to me! Make sure it’s all straight, no crazy wavy piece in the back lol Depending on your personal style, try a pretty crystal headband, a fun birdcage veil, or a fun flower piece in your hair!
