I love my dress i have. i love the big ball gown look. the problem is everyone keeps telling me it looks too “prom dress” and it makes me look even bigger. i even have to admit the top with all the sequins is a bit “prom”. plus the top of it is going to need some serious alterations cause the lady that made it made the torso too long and it kinda scoops on top so the points go up in my arm pits. in the pic below i have it rolled down on the inside like 4″ which will need to get taken off. idk that can all be done and could hack off some sequins maybe. i really love the train on it tho and i’ve kinda always pictured myself in a big ball gown style dress.
Sooo Ive been looking at other dresses. I found Davids Bridal t9612. Ive always been a big fan of this dress but I never thought i would like a mermaid style kind of dress. Ovibously very different than what i have now. But i feel it would muchmore grown up looking. I really love the all over lace look. Ive seen it in stores before and always thought it was gorgeous. Ive never been able to try it on before tho cause they either didnt have it in my size or a different bride had the bigger size. Im going to see if i any of my local stores have it in my size so i can see it on first. I love the low back and it would go more with my girls dresses with the sexy slim look. my biggest worries with this tho would be that i would look like a big white sausage, even with the right undergarments. i had a tight mermaid stle dress before and thats what i felt and looked like. that one was too small tho so that was probably the problem. also im very busty and with this being so low cut that i will popping out too much. i had to wear a bridesmaid dress with pretty much the same cut top once and i was just pouring out.
so pros and cons to both dresses. love the look of both. i need some vote here. also it would be a big help if any plus size brides in the dress could post their pics in it. thanks!
Option 1 – My dress
Option 2 – Davids bridal t9612

Girl, stop looking at dresses!

Are you unhappy with your dress? Do you have it in your budget to buy a different dress?
I would say, if you have the money, go ahead and try the David’s Bridal one. I doubt it’s going to look better than the ballgown one, though, but I think you need to get it out of your head, but only do it if you have the money, just in case you fall in love with it.
And bridesmaid dresses and wedding dresses are structured completely differently, so I wouldn’t necessarily go by what you’ve tried on before.
Go with what makes YOU feel beautiful. I don’t think your dress is too “prom.”

I second PP (the one that said to stop looking!)

I really can’t say what you should do if you haven’t tried the dress on, but I’m getting the feeling that dress #2 is the dress that you really want.
I think you should hold off on making any decisions, or asking for too many opinions, until you’ve tried the second dress on.

Just throwing this out there.. but are you really unhappy with your dress, or the way you look in your dress?
I have a dress that I don’t think I look amazing in… but that’s because I am not happy with my current weight. I see other dresses I love, and sure it’s tempting to get something else… but I don’t regret my dress per se. I don’t think *any* dress would make me happy at the moment.

@canarydiamond: I think kinda both. like i said theres parts of my dress i didnt like. but at the same time i do feel like when i have it on that it does make me look really big. but then i might look like a big tube in the other one. just need to get in to try it on to see i guess

Is this your fourth or fifth dress now? I think you need to have more confidence in your choices maybe and stop second guessing. I know its hard but maybe ban yourself from looking at other dress options.

@Lollybags: lol this would be my 5th. i know i really got to stop looking. ive worked in bridal a lot so i love wedding dresses and cant help looking. but hey i want to look my best and be happy in whatever dress I do finally choose right?

I have the second dress! It’s absolutely gorgeous, but I will warn you. The beading gets stuck in the lace all the time. Just walking around causes lots of snags and it’s difficult to undo

@jbbs1222: of course, but it has to have an end point at some stage, right, otherwise you could just keep buying, selling and buying another dress right up till the wedding day. i think you just have to focus in why you picked your current dress and what made you love that style on you? Doubts and second guessing is normal for most people but not to the extent of being onto your fifth dress…

Wait, this is your 5th dress?? You look lovely in the first dress pic, quit looking at dresses! No good can come of it!

The ball gown looks gorgeous on you! I think lace adds size to anyone no matter if theyre a size 0 or 20! Thats my opinion however. If I were in your situation, and I kept dreaming of the lace gown, i’d just go for it. Choose whichever one you subconsciously envision yourself walking down the aisle in.

I vote another altogether. I vote an empire waisted ball gown.

I really like the second one, but go with whatever makes YOU happy!
