I live in Westchester, but am getting married upstate near my hometown. I'm heading up to see my parents for a long weekend and I would really like to go dress shopping with my mom. I'm not too familiar with the area anymore so I was wondering where everyone went dress shopping? I'd like to stay in the Schenectady/Albany area although wouldn't be against going up to Saratoga as well.

    Thanks! :)

I bought my dress from Danielles in Saratoga. They have a pretty decent selection from various designers and their customer service is great.

I heard amazing things about Angelas Bridal on Western Ave in Albany. They don’t carry the designer I was looking for so I didn’t bother trying them but I know people who went with them and they had a great experience. Angela’s was part of a wedding show that I attended last year and in speaking with the girls who worked the show, they definitely know their stuff.

The Bridal Gallery by Yvonne (sp?) in Latham is nice, too. I didn’t visit the salon but I heard that they have a nice selection and a great atmosphere.

I’ve been to a few other salons with friends when they were getting married but I can’t remember the names. I’ll do some research and get back to you on those.

I got my dress at Something Bleu in Saratoga. It's a small salon, but has a great atmosphere, and they don't pressure. They carry very unique collections, a lot of European designers, in a variety of price ranges.

I also tried Danielle's, they are nice but not very organized, it's a very self-help type of salon.

Also went to Thoughts and Best Wishes in Latham, they were really great as well.

Bridal Gallery by Yvonne's has a really great experience with private bridal suites, and very personal service, and they have some gorgeous dresses (I almost bought a dress there actually before I found "the one") but I do have some doubts about their honesty. They take the labels out of dresses and sometimes won't be upfront about designers.

Thanks ladies! I think we are going to go to Angela's Bridal in Albany. I'm not really, really looking yet and just want to get a feel for what's out there. I'm also going to stop by David's Bridal in Colonie just for the hell of it. :)
